In this gentle world of Bikini swim suits, "teams of destiny" and channel swimmers last week's debacle at Franklin Field struck with disquieting reality. We can, however, find comfort in knowing that the darkest always comes before the dawn .... and as far as Pennsylvania goes, well, hell, Charles Evans Hughes didn't get by the Bar Examiners until after the seventh crack.
Professor MacDonald and the Eccy department will be happy to know that one of their charges will soon be rubbing waistcoats (or shirt tails) with international tycoonery. George Springsteen has just graduated from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and immediately won an appointment with the State Department in the Office of International Trade. I might add that in this new office only ten openings were made available .... "for younger men of unusual promise in the fields of international trade."
Bucky Mansfield has just hung the shingle in Philly as councillor-at-law .... and from Boston comes word of Jim Donnelly opening a law office with the firm of Schneider, Reilly, & Bean; Jim and family have just joined the happy fraternity of American Home Owners .... in a move which should put James away up there in that Life social survey classification. And speaking about home owners, RogArnold has a pretty grand abode up around Buffalo, Bob Gurley is rattling around a biggy in Chi, and Mac Morse has begun figuring assessments in Pittsburgh. Mac, doing commercial research work for the U.S. Bridge Company, was up in the big city recently and looking like one of his million dollar projects. While perambulating the avenues, Mac ran into Mac McLoud and Chuck Regan. Chuck, who has been plying the medical tools in Baltimore, will make the move to Boston shortly.
In a note of questionable importance to metropolitan theatre goers we would like to announce the impending presentation of
"Fun and Frolics," a Westchester show which I suppose has something to do with frolics or fun and will feature such stardusters as John Eaton and Mac McLoud. Other fall presentations of unquestionable importance came with the arrivals of Elizabeth Crawford Hills Sept. 4 (daughter of the Buffy CrawfordHills) and Thornton Weeks Jenness Sept. 17 (son of the Jack Jenness').
Mike Ives is with the NLRB in Washington and living just across the Potomac in Arlington Charlie Revenaugh is selling insurance in lower Connecticut StanleyBarr is manufacturing shoes in Auburn, N. Y. .... Bill Foye is studying pharmacy at the University of Wisconsin Bob Gifford is down on Wall Street with Blair & Co..... and Dr. Bob Wiley is now with the Dept. of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the Grace-New Haven Hospital.
Bob Rickey was recently promoted to the district sales office of Capital Air Lines in Washington, D. C.
In a move reflecting the unsettled times, security-conscious Fairfield County is pushing Charles T. Glines for the office of Sheriff. The major, I should say "only," obstacle lies in the 192 lb. requirement, which the Chucker must attain before winning the brace of 44's
.... however, I understand the local fathers have started a table scrap drive.
Future Dartmouth football teams will miss the inspiration and guidance of last year's freshman coach, Meryll Frost. Meryll has retired from coaching to continue his highly successful lecture tours.
I hope you fellows have remembered to mail in your dues to Gus Pratt.
