Pinch hitting for Nat, at the moment luxuriating in Florida, is made simple by the providential fact that this issue of the MAGAZINE is devoted largely to details of the 1948 Fund.

Before going into that, the Executive Committee. meeting partly by letter and partly over a couple of old-fashioneds at Chub's, elected Ben Stout to fill the vacancy caused by Frank Dodge's death. Ben has worked manfully on Class affairs and is a worthy successor to the other Westerners who have preceded him as Class Officers.

The engagement is announced of Schuyler Dodge to Virginia Florence Wilson of New York. Nat, who has met her, highly approves!

As to the Fund, it was, as you know, over the top again as a whole. We didn't hit our quota—as a matter of fact, I doubt if we ever will as long as the powers that be keep increasing it in the face of shrinking numbers. But at least you can be somewhat happy that the year's total was the second highest in our history. Since the Fund started we have contributed 1140,000. With four less possible contributors than last year, we had two less actual contributors, the percentage of participation remaining at 86, again the all-time second high.

Some early birds have already sent in their '49 checks, so once more we're getting into action.

That 1910-1911 Harvard game dinner that Nat reported last month was a great chance to see not only many 1911 men who are too seldom seen, but also "Tenners" with whom I hadn't passed the time of day for years and years. It was a good party.
