FLASH! DARTMOUTH GLEE CLUB COMING

The Dayton Dartmouth Alumni Association opened the 1948-49 year with our regularly scheduled monthly luncheon in September. Approximately 30 former Dartmouths were in attendance. Our new president, Bill Emerson '34, very ably presided. This opening meeting was followed with another successful luncheon in October. In November, we combined forces with the Cornell alumni in this area to stage a telegraphic broadcast of the Cornell-Dartmouth football thriller. The total turnout was 42, including Robert (Red) Rolfe '31, the new Detroit Tigers' manager, who was in town on minor-league business. Charlie Corwin '36 and Charlie Hall '33 did a bang-up job in getting this party together.

On Wednesday, December 29, twenty-seven Dartmouths gathered with their wives and sweethearts at The Willows, south of town, for a holiday party. Charlie Corwin '36, our able entertainment chairman, did a grand job of planning, assisted by Bob Moore '42 and Bob McClosky '34. The evening's gaiety included football and winter sports movies from Hanover, hilarious games conducted by Hannah Kennedy, wife of Wib '27, dancing, singing with Chuck Haskell '42 at the piano and a snack served at the end of the evening. Those in attendance were:

Beust '38, C. F. Corwin '36, Cowden '32, Davidson '39, Emerson '34, T. J. Hall '33, Hoerner '36, H. M. Huffman '36, R. R. Huffman '47, Pansing '35 (Troy), Clement 'll, Seney '3l, Richards '36, T. G. Kennedy '27, W. G. Kennedy '27, J. E. Kuhns '40, Lewis '36, McClosky '34, Patterson '31, Scharrer '46, Stowe '27, Haskell '40, Austin '52, Miller '36, Morner '43, Craig '44, Gillaugh '46.

And now we get into a deeper explanation of our first flash. The Glee Club will be here on Saturday night, April 2, for a combination concert and cabaret dance at the Dayton Biltmore Hotel. The hour and a half performance by the Glee Club will be followed by a threehour dance. We urge all Big Greeners within driving distance of Dayton to take in this outstanding affair. Tickets are going for the amazing price of only $5.00 per couple. Reservations can be obtained through this writer.
