For a couple of hours at noon on Monday, Dec. 27, a group of undergraduates met with alumni from this section at the Astor Hotel in Milwaukee. Students attending were: FritzJohn '52, Brooks Boyce '50, John Schalles '50, Gilbert Mueller '51, William Randall '52, JohnLotter '50, and a lot of us who wish we were.

There were some questions about campus activities, the weather in Hanover, and the Chicago Tribune incident. The undergraduates present were emphatic in their determination that we in Milwaukee should not believe the Tribune's accusation. Perhaps what our anxious undergraduates failed to realize was that we who are a little older have known that Dartmouth is truly democratic and lends an ear to all sides, believing thus to promote pendent thought by its students which is based more upon fact than propaganda.

We were sorry to learn of the death of one of our old timers, Charles W. Hamilton '83. Mr. Hamilton was a co-founder of a company which became known throughout the world in its field—The Milwaukee Lace Paper Company. Mr. Hamilton was 88 years old at the time of his death, and while he had not been very active in the last few years he did always enjoy being one of the boys at an occasional meeting or picnic.

When the book For Men Lonely was published, your secretary read the press notices and figured that he would get around to reading it sometime, although its direct usefulness was past. Back in my day the boys got along using their own set of rules, but I suspect the guide will conserve time and effort over and above the old trial and error methods. Now comes a sequel for the girls called Week End, with the startling revelation that the co-author, William Jones '49, is one of our Wisconsin boys, son of Alan P. Jones '19 of Fort Atkinson. Probably the JoneS' advice to dating collegians will become as nationally famous as their well-known "Jones Pork Sausages."

Henry Orth '27 has moved to Milwaukee from the Chicago area. Henry is associated with the H. C. Miller Company, manufacturing stationers. (No charge for commercials until the advertising manager gets after us, so send them in.)
