Had a letter from Hank Barker who is selling Chevrolets and Cadillacs in Bristol, Tenn. It seems that Hank is now engaged. The girl is Marilyn Ackerson of Morestown, N. J. and Sweet Briar College. They are planning to be married late in the summer. Hank tells of helping Bert Martin get through his wedding ceremony over a year ago and drops the scoop that Bert and Allene are expecting shortly. According to Hank, Gordie Phelps has been assigned to the USS McKenzie, a destroyer.

Howie Germain and Rhoda Perlstein were married in January. Mrs. Germain is a graduate of Mount Holyoke. There is talk of a wedding trip to Canada and the British West Indies before settling down in Brooklyn.

Larry Bellows and Miss Mavis McPherson are engaged. Larry is with Texas Petroleum at Leopoldville in the Belgian Congo. Mavis is with the British Consulate there. A December wedding is planned.

Dr. Fred Plum and Jean Houston have also announced their engagement. Fred is an assistant resident at the New York Hospital. His bride-to-be is a senior in the CornellNew York Hospital Nurses Training School and is a graduate of Ashley Hall, Charleston, S. C.

Don Ash was married at noon one day back in December. His bride is Gloria Hannigan of Old Greenwich, Conn. Gloria is a graduate of the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Hartford. Don is with Metropolitan Life in New York City.

Among recent Hanover Inn visitors were the newlywed Howie Germains, the C. T.Spencers of Ipswich, Mass. and the JackWachtels of N. Y. C.

About 30 members of the now defunct Dartmouth Navy Alumni Association have accepted our invitation to become members of the Class of 1945. X will give you a complete listing of their names next month. Once again, we welcome our new members.

Larry Newdick now has a chance to straighten things out in Massachusetts. He recently was appointed to the staff of the Special Commission on the Structure of the State Government, established by act of the 1949 Massachusetts General Court. Larry, who is doing graduate work in government at Boston University, holds forth in Room 33 of the State House, Boston. With wife Joyce and son Edwin Michael, 6 months old, he makes his home at 86 Gainsborough Street, Boston.
