The good resolutions of last month that the copy would surely get in early this month finds the situation the same, the deadline is here, and lest the old traditions fail, it's got to be done tonight. I'm sure the gang was well represented at the festivities of the Harvard game, but must admit so far I haven't found out who was there. Being new to the Boston area it takes a little time to line up some spies.
Major Johnny Evans has been assigned to duty at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama from Wheelus Field, Libya, where he had spent 27 months as Protestant Chaplain. As his friends would expect, John left a number of good works behind. He organized Boy and Girl Scout troops, a teen-age club, a Sunday School for Protestant children, and initiated a program of aid to Arab and Italian orph anages, While at Maxwell Field, his wife and family will be with him on the base.
The mail this month brought the unpleasant news that Bill Deal has been forced to take an extended leave of absence from his job as national manager of the fountains and restaurants of S. H. Kress, and rest up for what we all hope is no longer than a year, at Biggs Memorial Hospital in Ithaca, N. Y. All this came as a result of a bout with some tubercule bacilli with the lungs the loser. Bill's main worry seems to be that we won't get the address change and he will lose out on the class news and the chance to kick in an extra buck or two for the Alumni Fund. Our system may have faults, but you've certainly got to hide out in a less obvious place than this to escape the Alumni Fund mail.
Apologies are in order to Sam Dix and his bride for not reporting their nuptials in an earlier issue. Sam married Dorothy Swanson from the old home town of Grand Rapids, Mich., last February. Gene King was on hand and likewise Van Lee. When last heard from, they were living at 85 Remsen St., in one of the loveliest parts of Brooklyn. Belated congratulations to you both.
If this column is ever read in Washington we are probably sunk, but Roy Middleworth has just pointed out a very obvious but overlooked fact, that of all the bills we have to ante up for these days the four bucks for class dues is only one with no inflation. No tax either, but Don Wheaton will still settle for that sum.
Kev Fay has been interning at the Montreal General Hospital and living in that city with his family. This summer they came "to the states" and have settled in San Francisco to complete the interning, as Kev says, "finally." Dick White has been established as a solid citizen of that Golden Gate City for sometime, where he is engaged in the manufacture of folding cartons as- a vocation and skiing in the Sierras as an avocation.
Rog Stanwood started on a new job earlier this year as Assistant to the Vice President of Gas Supply for the Transcontinental Gas Pipeline Corp. in Houston and lives in Bellaire, Tex. George Adams is a neighbor in Bellaire and is a special agent for Provident Mutual Life. Rog reports seeing Kim Ayers, who is engaged in marine drilling operations for the Stanolind Oil and Gas Co., and it is keeping him plenty busy.
