The big news is that the annual Christmas smoker for alumni and undergraduates will be held at the Town and Country Club on December 28 from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Jim Oppenheimer is chairman of the smoker and he promises another festive occasion.
Your Association has been cruising through the fall schedule under a full head of steam. The coed picnic at George Hoke's was another highly successful affair. Over 75 fellows and gals were present for games, prizes, and a delicious picnic supper by the campfire. After dusk we were slightly outnumbered by the mosquitoes, but next year we've been promised that the picnic grounds will be sprayed.
Dartmouth Night at Gluek's was a great success. We had a good turnout, including Al Gluek, Red Loudon, Lyle McKown, JohnFaegre, Whit Miller, Bob McCraney, ShermPinkham, Tom Charlton, Jim Doerr, Art Ostrander, Walt Bush, Arnie Oss, and many others. The recorded greetings from Hanover were good, and the songs and noises of the football rally brought back many fond memories to all of us.
Stu MacPhail has done a grand job initiating activities to bring the word of Dartmouth to secondary schools here in Minneapolis. His initial effort at Edina High on October 30 was very well received. Bobb Chaney '35 spoke to more than 90 boys who assembled to see the movie, "My First Week at Dartmouth," and about 25 stayed on to ask questions. Many thanks are due Sterling Mitchell, principal of Edina, for his wonderful cooperation. Cap Whitney, Cliff Roberts, Dave Leslie,Fred Gamble, and your scribe also attended this meeting. It is hoped that this will be the first of many others around our territory.
