Sad is the lot of your old class sec As he sits at his Royal and starts hunt'n peck. No news from the class; no letters on deck. And the Bums out in Flatbush have made me a wreck.
I went to a barroom one that was near, Sat down and I cried in my fine Schaefer Beer. The series is over we've lost that's quite clear. (And I'm not even going to mention "next year.")
All through September I scouted around But only one classmate of ours could be found. Bumped into Rich Fisher at Broadway and Wall. He said, "My name's Fisher." Said I, "Mine is Hall." He said he was quitting old Bethlehem Steel With the hope of becoming an importing "wheel." He s happily married and looking just fine His little boy's five and his little girl's nine.
An agent of mine in the Midwest has spied And sent me a dossier of Gordon M. Ide. He lives in St. Paul with Betty, his wife (No line on his main occupation in life). The Ides had a wonderful summer, they say Caribbean cruises, vacations tres gai. But Henry, their red cocker spaniel was sore. He had to stay in St. Paul what a bore!
Walt Winchester writes from Florida bright. Another big holiday season's in sight. The tourist trade's started and all's going well. (Their greenbacks are caught in a tropical spell.) At 241 Scotland Street Walter resides, In Dunedin. He works as an M.D. Besides, He hopes you'll drop in if you head down that way. You'll find him at home most any old day.
Dick Paul has been covering the country by air For the Air Force, o£ course, and he never knows where. He's been coast to coast and even to Guam. (We bet that he'd rather be down on the farm.) Chuck Smith's in the Air Force at Newburgh (upstate). Ed Phelan has been in the Navy of late. With Beverly nine and Geoffrey just four, The Phelans have time to have Phelans ga- lore.
A note of last June that I have with me still Tells of Johanna Ellingwood Hill. Born June twenty-second she brought quite a kick To those wonderful Hill's, I mean Polly and Dick. The first night of summer, for memory's lane, Dick was away (a convention in Maine). He arrived at the scene with moments to spare Still dressed in tuxedo (those things bankers wear).
The Springfield Republican brought me some news Which I most heartily pass on to youse. Ray Seabury's active in Springfield (That's great!) His "Fun-Raising" Party's the hit of the State. Dartmouth alumni made the hills ring With smorgasbord and a community sing. With boating and fishing and sports on the land, They counted one hundred and fifty on hand.
From Fort Lee, New Jersey, a story to tell That Dr. Dave Mulliken's doing quite well. He works at a clinic. (Here is the wrinkle The name of the joint? It's called Rip Van Winkle!) His forte is obstetrics; gynecology, too. (There goes a line that I'm glad to get through!) The Mulliken family now numbers four In their Claverack home near the old Hudson shore.
Art Moffatt's a managing editor now A traveler, too, as you soon will allow. For during the winter he edits Ski News And during the summer he goes on a cruise. This year the journey went to Hudson's Bay With Art showing five college students the way. Arthur is living in Norwich, Vermont. Write to him, now, when it's ski news you want.
Next week I'm watching the Indian team Play Army and try to get back on the beam. The first two encounters with H.C. and Penn Were not Ivy League (more like Big Ten). But Army and Harvard and Cornell and Yale Will riot make the red-blooded Indians pale. McLaughry's men may not be winners in all But they'll give opponents bad moments this fall.
That's enough for the blankety-blank verse and here are some changes in addresses as received from the College. Bill Aylward is at 404 Park Drive, Joliet, Ill. An old DCAC man like Bill should have a wary eye out for basketball talent in that basketball-happy section of Illinois. Bruce Brown is at 29 Camino Don Miguel, Orinda, Calif. Capt.Jim Eckels lives at 1202 Huron St., Manitowoc, Wise. Bud Sands is in Eugene, Oregon at 147 Cherry Drive. And 1429 Myott Ave. in Rockford, Ill., is the home of Dr. Frank Mun-sey. How's the missus and the kiddies, Frank? Jack Schwer's address is Klaus Anderson Road in Southwick, Mass. Jim Meissner who used to live on the third floor of Middle Fayer, now resides on Buena Vista Ave., Spring Valley, N. Y.
That just about winds up another session of class doings and with due apologies to Bill Shakespeare (Notre Dame '39, of course) I remain the bard of Levittown. More next month.
Secretary, ... 47 Hook Lane, Levittown, N. Y. Treasurer, 1140 Wightman St., Pittsburgh 17, Pa.
