A cold fall day with the radio voice of Jack Brickhouse in the background narrating the second Series game. So I skip work this afternoon and kill two birds with one stone by listening and typing simultaneously.

Not an awful lot of poop for you this month. By next month I hope to have attended the Harvard game in Cambridge, so I should have a lot of news from the guys in attendance.

A letter from Brud Becker out in the fair city of Cleveland where he and wife Jane live as Brud works for the Bay State Abrasive Products Company of Worcester, Mass. His job is to drum up grinding wheel business. Brud reports that fellow-Clevelander Warren"Ornie" Ornstein, a recent Law School grad from the University of Michigan is now a G.I. at Camp Breckinridge, Ky. Brud also relates that ex-roomie Paul Barnico is permanently situated in Lynn, Mass., with General Electric. He's an "Aircraft Gas Turbine Accessories Development Engineer," whatever that is.

Had a letter from Lt. Herb Gramstorff over in Germany with Uncle Sam's contingent. He's due back this winter. Before he left last spring he spent a few evenings at Sam Stone's "Cotillion Lounge" in Taunton, Mass. For those interested in a fine spot around Taunton to spend a lush evening, Sam has the answer. Herb also talked on the phone to George Piper down in Chattanooga. The latter was a management trainee for an Egg and Produce Company. ...

A letter from Cpl. Art Wallace out in San Luis Obispo, Calif., where he too is a G.I. draftee. Art's two years are up next month, and needless to say he's not sorry. He s been moved from camp to camp with little progress as far as personal educational gain is concerned. He started in radio school, and after they'd taught him the trade, they proceeded to ignore him in that type of assistance to our services. However, there's no explaining how the army mind works....

I forgot to mention in connection with the letter from Herb Gramstorff that he met fellow '49er Don Krueger. Don is a "records disposal technician for the European Exchange System," or a carpetbagger, as civilian employees are affectionately termed by the military.

Recent Hanover Inn guests were Dick Hook in July, Bill Norwood in September and Wainwright Holt, also in September.
