Boy I've had a pretty rough week.... For those of you who have already been expectant fathers, it's merely reminiscing when you hear my troubles, but for those of you who plan parenthood in the future, a word of advice. Being an expectant father, with all its moans, aches, pains and sleepless nights is bad enough, but when your wife is late the week of the Harvard game, boy that's murder. Here I sat, egging her on, pleading with her to deliver before the 25th, begging her to cooperate so that my well-planned annual activities wouldn't suffer. After all, it was to be the only game I could attend this year. Wouldn't she please cooperate? She'd promise nothing. But I must live a clean life, because sure enough on Thursday morning (4 A. M. of course it has to be at that hour or it doesn't count) regularity of moans, aches, etc. set in and off we whipped to the hospital. By 1:45 P.M. I was a proud dad, but my plans to enroll him in Dartmouth for Class of 1975 went slightly awry, for he turned out to be a she, Catherine Louise, weight 8 pudgy typical-Zeiser pounds. So I now shall write Mrs. Broderick to reserve a room for her when she visits some Dartmouth frosh that same year.

Once I had Pat safely ensconced in the hospital, I took off for Cambridge, barely making the kickoff. My visit was necessarily limited to the game, so I saw only the following guys scattered about.. .Fred Tilden, PaulBarnico, Lee Bronson, Russ Palmer and BillWhite. Since the game, which incidentally wasn't the greatest display of Green ability I ever saw, I heard from Summy Arneson that he and wife Noni had had a whole gang over after the game including Tom and AnnSwartz, Rocket and Mrs. Reed, Fred and Mrs.Briscoe, Bill Knight, Bob and Mrs. Muenzberg,Ken and Mimi Wheeler and Jim Huntington. I was sorry to have missed what sounds like a promising blast.

Two bits of tragedy enter my column this month. The first, and closer to home, is that my mother died October 11 after many years of incurable illness. I mention this not for the desire for any sympathy notes from you, rather on the contrary please do not but I know many of you have met her through the years and often in letters one of you asks for her.

The other tragic note concerns a classmate, Bill Cook, who was killed September 29 in Cherry Point, N. C., in an airplane crash. I know you join me in extending the Class' deepest sympathies to his wife Evelyn and the entire Cook family. Further accounts of Bill's Dartmouth career will be found elsewhere in this MAGAZINE

One service I can offer any of you interested was brought to light just this week when Rog Sheldon wrote a letter to Johnny Stockwell in care of me. I forwarded it to the latest address I had for John and presume he received it. My addresses aren't always right up to date, but they're close, so any time I can do similarly for you, I'd be glad to.

On September 27 Pat and I were invited by Ken and Mimi Wheeler out to dinner in Cumberland, R. I. Also present were Jack andPeggy Kilmartin, so we spent a fine evening chatting Green stories around the room.

On Columbus Day we were invited out to Harv and Jane Nolan's for a Beer Buffet, but my funeral arrangements here interfered. I understand, however, that it was a blast.

Card from Bert and Sue Rodman in Boston announces the birth of their first child, a daughter, Ellen Ruth, on October 3.

Recent Hanover Inn attendees were Mr. andMrs. John Borys of Lawrence, Mass., Mr. andMrs. Bill White of Bloomfield, N. J., BobPriester of Davenport, lowa and Mr. and Mrs.Dan Raabin of New York....

Ist. Lt. Herb Gramstorff is returning to this country for release from active Army duty in Germany. Herb's a Finance Officer with the 14th Finance Disbursing Section at Nurnberg, Germany....

The weddings of the month Bill White of Milton, Mass., to Miss Virginia Adele Meseroll of Bloomfield, N. J Wainwright Holt of Radburn, N. J., to Miss Elsie Marie Earle of Ridgewood, N. J. He is a sales engineer with the Allis-Chalmers Co Dave Jones of Glen Ridge, N. J., to Miss Janet Van Zoeren also of Glen Ridge. Two of Dave's ushers were Erk Ingram and Frank "Matty" Munson Vaughn Johannessen of Indianapolis to Miss Marilyn Jean Dora of Falmouth, Ind... . Dr.Art Morley of Bronxville, N. Y., to Miss Jeanne M. Oehrlein also of Bronxville. Two of Art's ushers were Dr. Lou Clark and LouGluek.

We've been asked this month to keep this column at a minimum so that the Alumni Fund Reports may be published, so I'll call it quits for this time. How about a letter?
