Ten of the thirteen members of the executive committee, together with most of their wives, spent all or part of the October 16-18 weekend at the Kedron Valley Inn, South Woodstock, Vt. Also present were five couples who took advantage of the space available in the Inn after the needs of the Committee had been satisfied. Everyone present felt that the gathering was most successful. Through a happy combination of superb weather, comfortable country surroundings and enthusiastic group the committee was able to discuss organizational problems confronting us, plan for the future and have fun. Friday evening was devoted largely to visiting and bridge. We started Bill Eaton off with $6.66 for the Alumni Fund collected from the losers, and pass on a slight warning to whom it may concern - Summer Emerson has an opening three bid as tricky as the Colgate pitchout.

On Saturday we took in the Colgate game at Hanover and then returned to the Inn where thirty of us sat down to a ' roast beef banquet." The business meeting followed. Due to the success of this affair we propose to stage a similar one next fall providing we can find adequate lodging for a larger group. Gil and Marie Swett came up after a week on Cape Cod, Bill and Sally Sewall combined business with pleasure, and Len and LaureneReade crept in late Friday night to start their vacation with the weekend in South Woodstock. In addition to the above mentioned, Bill and Helen Birtwell came from Asbury Park and showed some fine colored slides taken at reunion by Helen. Also, Bill Eaton and his sister Eleanor Kelsey, Sumner andCharlotte Emerson, Hank and Polly Loudon,Pete and Lucy Olds, Len and Sally Shea,Barney and Adele Thielseher, Walt and RuthSisson and Jack Saladine, who was picked up in West Hartford by your secretary and his wife. Arch and Mary Gile, the Trenholms and Mose Hutchins came back after the game and joined us for dinner. We were sorry to have missed Sam MacKillop who left a note before anyone returned from Hanover.

Seen at the Colgate game: Forrey Emery,Jim Montgomery and his wife Ruth, EvRobie, Deering Smith and his wife, Arch andMary Gile, Guy Richardson, Bob Boynton,Mose and Pauline Hutchins, Pay Barber, KarlStillman and his wife, and Trennie Trenholm and his wife.

A letter from Pete Olds gives the word on the dinner before the Harvard game. RalphSanborn, Bunny Holden, Don O'Leary,Johnnie Wheelock, Phil Evans, Roger Stone,Bill Eaton, Larry Nourse and Pete attended.

"At the game the next day I did not see many of the '17 boys around because Lucy and I had 45-yard seats for the first time in 36 years. Most of the others were in Section 4, I think. It was a good game and the team performed better than at the Colgate game. I cannot conceive, however, of the varsity winning any games this year. (Ed. note - Famous last words.) It was certainly mighty good of you to call us at the dinner and we all appreciate your doing so."

Then, to round out a month of good gatherings, how about October 31 when the Big Green team rode out of Hanover on their broomsticks and cleaned up the Yale Bowl? What a main bout to precede the Scotts' party where the number of guests almost equaled that incredible score, 32-0. Having in mind several junkets in years past when we wandered around the dark Connecticut countryside looking for Hunting Hill Road, this time we really organized. Parked the car strategically, headed out, away from the Bowl. Took off like a Jersey jackrabbit after the game and arrived at the Scott mansion before our host and hostess. The fact that GilSwett was driving didn't slow us down any. It was a grand party and once again we are indebted to Bob and Anita for their wonderful hospitality. At the Scotts' were Tom and Ellen Cotton, Bunny and Millie Holden, Spike and Ruby MacIntyre, Gil and Marie Swett, Lucile and Gene Towler, ex-Lt. Tom Towler '49 and his wife Suzanne, Jane Towler and Don Bodholdt, Houghton and Ann Carr, Len and Sally Shea, Gordon and Muriel Tracy, Deering Smith and his wife Helen and daughter Betty, Jack and Dodo Saladine, Wendell and Eleanor Reycroft, Art and Emily Stout and Don and Helen Brooks. Bob had also received telegrams from Mott Brown and Pete Olds. Hope they can make it in person another year.

Walt Walters sent on some photographs taken at our recent reunion and said, in part, "It was a fine reunion we had, but much too short, I am sorry to say. Personally, I think they should make the reunions of classes like ours, after a lapse of thirty-five years, to last for five or six days. Then we could go to Hanover Holiday (I went to several of the lectures this year and enjoyed them thoroughly) and wish I had arrived Sunday afternoon instead of Tuesday prior to the reunion days." Apparently Walt is not the only '17er who feels that way as Tom Cotton and MottBrown echo his sentiments that the 36th was much too short and the 40th can't come quick enough.

Hanover Inn visitors during October: JimMontgomery and his wife. Pay Barber and hiswife, Slats and Helen Baxter, the Karl Stillmans, the Len Reades and Bill Eaton.

Due to the Alumni Fund listings in thisissue we are saving our letters and vitalstatistics for the next issue. Keep them coming, though, and remember that the complaint Iwould most like to get is a sour look fromthe postman because he has so much mail todeliver to 9 Park Terrace. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!
