We are fortunate this year to have been host to the Dartmouth Glee Club. The evening of March 30, we were entertained by that group to the delight of many alumni, their ladies, and friends, and the families of many undergraduates. Mr. Paul Zeller, the director of the Glee Club, offered a varied program rated no less than excellent, judging from the complimentary remarks offered during the evening. "The Injunaires" and the soloists helped make the concert the success that it was. As an additional source of entertainment a dance was held following the concert, with die-hards taking advantage of the evening "til way past bed-time."
Joe Mansfield '44, chairman of our activities committee composed of Smed Ward '43, PeteSalome '38, Bill McMahon '42, and JackYoung '46, spent considerable time and effort on behalf of the Philadelphia area alumni in promoting the concert and dance. Pete Pray '15 saw to it that Glee Club members were well fed and housed by alumni and friends of the College, to all of whom we owe a great deal of thanks.
Notes to you: John Flanagan '28 enjoying his mad version of the Mexican Hat dance with a sweet young thing barely able to maintain his pace; Bill Pugh '25 proud enough of our Glee Club to have as his guest the secretary of the Philadelphia Cornell Club; the camera bulbs flashing frequently were the makings of a picture story by the father of Ronnie Scott '52, last year's Glee Club manager, now in naval flight training at Pensacola, Fla.; Dick Barlow '14 and several other Trenton alumni down to enjoy the evening; the ladies, all gaily attired and quite charming, contributed a great deal toward a most delightful evening.
Bob Tyson '42 has advised that Fred Slack '42, too long missing from the "regular attendance" list, is due back from Tokyo after recall by the Navy; Bob Coltman '32, Ed Newman '42, Greg Tobin '20, Dick Barlow '14, and Russ Pettingill '09 have been in for a Monday luncheon; Harold Budd '15 is recovering from an illness that kept him from attending the concert; Bob Douglas '48 has moved here from Pittsburgh; Vic Smith '45 has been sent back to Philadelphia by Turner Construction Cos. to work on a large local construction project. We are glad to learn from his good wife that "Mac" Rollins '11 is up and around and his health considerably improved.
