Well, the holidays are over as I sit again at my banked-up portable and start another year, even if the January notes were written in December. I can only hope that Christmas was as happy at your home as it was at the Herrick's. A few days before, Jimi was down with virus pneumonia and Missie was runing 103½ fever with some bug or other. Just as I was about to fade from playing nurse, housekeeper, cook, bottlewasher and trying to keep up with things at the office, Jimi's folks arrived for the holidays and all was saved Everybody was up for Christmas and we had lots'to be thankful about.

The big thing at our house this year was the Hi-Fi we got as a joint project for Christmas It has been going from early morn to late evening ever since, much to our joy and pleasure. Fortunately for your technically ingnorant editor, a brother-in-law who isn't provided the big assist and steered us to the right tweeters, woofers, amps, pre-amps, chancers and tuners. You all have an invitation for a listen any time you're around and we guarantee that we play it at a level where conversation is still possible so I guess we can't be classified as addicts.

Getting into things of more universal interest, an announcement of the wedding of Bob Merriam and Mary McDonald in Greenfield, Mass., on December 21 confirms the "advance" information in the January issue. Colin Stewart and Miss Ann Edwards of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, are planning a winter wedding. She is a 1953 graduate of the University of Toronto and is studying sculpture in Boston at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. Colin graduated from the Harvard University of Design in 1955 and is associated with the firm of Vappi, Symmes and Maini of Cambridge, Mass.

Bob and Win Tracy announced the arrival of Jennifer Ann on December 1. The Frannie Hummels of Milford, Conn., were in Hanover on Nov. 22.

A note on Dick Greene's Christmas card said that we'd have some reunion information shortly. Trust we'll have it for you in the next issue. Cheri and Ed Shipper's usual fanciful card brought a picture of the four young Shippers: Eddie, Stephanie, Maury and the March 16 arrival, Paula. They threaten to bring the whole brood to Yankeeland landand sabotage reunion with a barrage of Southern accents. Another unexpected but most welcome card came from Rollie Sontag who is with American Silk Label Manufacturing Co. of New York. He sent a sample of the woven Dartmouth bookmark which he is donating as a favor to all who attend reunion. We not only appreciate our sample but know that you will all prize these fine additions to your library as a memento of our Big Tenth.

In the way of incidental information, we note from the address changes that Neal Gilbert is a Visiting Lecturer, Dept. of Philosophy, Columbia University.... Doug Patton is a merchandising executive with Lord & Taylor on White Plains Road in Eastchester, N. Y., and is living in Old Greenwich, Conn. ... Mel Cheesman is living in Leavenworth, Wash., not Kansas.

Well, gotta pack my bag and head West tomorrow. I've been told that there's still business for those who go out and get it so I'd better see if I can get some. It's been a pleasure to be with you. See you next month.
