This news gathering business, like most other businesses, is a matter of feast or famine. Fortunately, the famine comes at an issue when we are cautioned to keep our remarks brief since most of the normally allotted space will be used to print the monickers of those who were cooperative at Alumni Fund time so the total column shouldn't be too anemic.

We can report that Sam Wilkinson, who was reported engaged in our October pages, was married to Miss Jean Louise Tilton on September 22. As usual, we report the news when it is news. She is a graduate of Wellesley. They are at home in Manchester.

Can't seem to keep Class Agent Bob Russell out of the notes. This time he's chairman of the 1956 Christmas seals sale in Ulster County, N. Y. Associated duties include membership on the board of directors of the Ulster County TB & Health Assn.. vice-presidency of the Saugerties Lions Club, board of directors of the Ulster County Branch of the American Red Cross and trustee of the Village of Saugerties. There are more, but the newspaper must be feeling the shortage of space. What's more, Bob set a new record for the Class as Class Agent for the 1956 Alumni Fund.

Don Gilmore was in on the dedication of a classroom-laboratory building and observance of Twenty Years of Progress at Northeastern University, Boston, Mass., on October 24.

Lan Macartney, an old hand for Stanolind Oil in Wyoming, has been transferred from Casper to the foreign exploration department of Stanolind at the company's General Office in Tulsa, Okla. His new business address is c/o Stanolind Oil and Gas Co., P. O. Box 591, Tulsa.

A lengthy article in the August 22 issue of the Cleveland Press tells of the bonanza in rug cleaners developed by Jack Gilbert by using expanded Mica as a cleaning fluid carrier insteadof the sawdust carrier that had been usedless successfully before. Testing in Clevelandhas demonstrated that this is far more effectivethan previous sawdust carriers. Jack is partof a fast-expanding family business, includinghis father and two brothers, Cleveland Cleaner& Paste Co.

Al Epstein and his Mrs. were in Hanover forthe last weekend in September and hung theirhats at the Inn.
