It is becoming increasingly apparent that the tide has turned against that once-flourishing bachelor clan. I have received news this month of no less than twelve (12) impending forfeitures of the bachelor status, to wit:

Dave Weber, who recently served for two years with the Marine Corps on Okinawa, engaged to Sandra Luce of Fairbury, Neb. They Plan an August wedding. Dave Johns and Ann McClelland of Shaker Heights, Ohio plan a July wedding. Dave is now at the University of Chicago working on his doctorate in ' international relations. Mike Nevins and Phyllis Brower of Teaneck, N. J. Mike who's at Tufts Med. School, and Phyllis look forward to a June wedding. Butch Colla and Leslie Collins of Pasadena, Calif.

Other engagements include that of: Dave Payne and Beverly Sanders of Wellesley Hills, Mass., who plan a wedding in the fall. Dave' works for the Connecticut Bank and Trust Co. in Hartford. An August ceremony is forthcoming for Kent Woodger and Julie Bryant of Duxbury, Mass. Kent's now associated with Berkshire Mutual Fire Insurance Co in Pittsfield. Early fall vows are planned for Gary Blanchfield and Lucy Straub of Fox Chapel, Penna.

Boy, isn't love just wonderful? I just hope to be' around Hanover come our fifth reunion to see if you married fellows cut up like you used to. It may just be more interesting for your wives. Well, to get on with business. More engagements:

Paul Frankel, a senior at Va. law school, and Deanna Mintzer of Harrisburg, Va. - a June wedding. Marine First Lieutenant Larry Weltin and Feriba Berry plan a June ceremony likewise. A Jefferson Med. College senior, Jerry Polin and Barbara Myers of Philadelphia. Ensign Pete Herman and Sheila Leary of Mamaroneck, N. Y.

Wes made it through that list. Let's take a look at a few who have actually gone off the deep end:

Coast Guard Ensign Jay Clark and Patricia Paterson were married in January in Honolulu. They will continue to live there where Jay is a navigator aboard the cutter "Bering Strait." Brooklyn Law School student Herb Swarzman and Abby Levingson of Brooklyn likewise took January vows. Leon Goodrich, in his last year at Harvard Law School, and Katherine Gulliksen of Princeton, N. J., were married in January.

Now to get off this matrimony jag. Ernie Holm has been appointed a career foreign service officer recently. The State Department appointment makes him a vice consul and a secretary in the diplomatic service. Reports have it that Larry Kruteck is the new money man of his senior class at Va. Law School. I should qualify that by stating that he's the class treasurer for fear the readers get the wrong idea.

I close out now with news of Walt Yusen's recent sojourn to the ski slopes of St. Anton and Zermatt in the Swiss Alps. It's inevitable that some must work while others play. Let's close on that happy note.
