Though an unusual number of illnesses of classmates and wives have been reported during recent weeks, as of late April, most reports have been favorable.

Bill Grimes, continues to be under observation and treatment at the Shattuck Hospital in Boston, and Mrs. Grimes is unable to say when he will be allowed to return to his home. She is optimistic about his condition and is hopeful that he will make steady progress.

"Judge" McLane spent several weeks in the Mary Hitchcock Hospital in Hanover following an operation. He is now at his home in Manchester and expects to enjoy normal good health soon.

"Bishop" Niles had a surprise party in early April. Without warning, he discovered an abnormal swelling in his left leg. The condition was promptly diagnosed by his Dartmouth doctor and friend, Halsey B. Loder '05, as an aneurism, a weakened and distended artery. An immediate operation was necessary and it took place promptly and successfully. Bishop is in good spirits and has returned to his home.

Ed Barker's wife, Agnes, was operated on for a detached retina in late February. The operation is believed to have been successful, but an extended period of rest is indicated. Ed reports satisfactory progress, though a further period must elapse before vision will be normal.

Another 07 wife, Edith, Bill Sanborn's wife, is recuperating from a coronary attack. She is a patient in the Hahnemann Hospital, Worcester, Mass., and is making a good recovery. Leon Sprague's wife has been ill for a long period, and her condition did not permit them to spend the winter in Florida, as they have done in other years. No recent report on Waldo Pickett's illness has been received. No news is, we hope, good news.

The Suncook Sun carried in its April 17 issue, Bill Ahern's invitation to Ward 4 voters of Concord, N. H., "to elect the right man for the right job," meaning that Bill should be elected Representative to the General Court. We agree and hope that Bill is in.

Harry Warner, '07's only representative in Detroit, Mich., plans to retire from business on June 30, though he will continue to be a director and consultant. Also, he has a new home address, 1415 Parker Avenue, Detroit, Mich. He thinks he may visit Boston briefly in June.

Phil and Theora Chase have planned to sail to Europe late in April, - and are presumably en route as this is written. They expect to have an extended and comprehensive visit in their favorite countries and cities. During Phil's absence, Harry Storrs has agreed to take over Phil's duties as Class Alumni Fund agent. Harry and the Assistant Class agents will concentrate on the Capital Fund campaign objective until its termination date on June 30. Harry and his team will welcome and appreciate the support of those classmates who want to have a part in this most important undertaking.

We of '07 owe many thanks to Jack Childs '09, for his friendly and interesting bulletin, entitled The Pee-Rade," which recognizes and confirms the closer relationship between '07 and '09 which has developed during recent years. - Best wishes to '09 for a wonderful 50th!

Dwight Hiestand has enjoyed an extended vacation in Acapulco, Mexico, and rates it as "the best resort in North America." Dwight is now back in Chicago.

Another traveling classmate, Bill Witham, might debate with Dwight on resort spots. He rates Kauai, Hawaii, and Caneel Bay Plantation, Virgin Islands, as the "tops of all the world's islands." Does any classmate want to disagree with Dwight or Bill?

A word about the informal reunion on June 14 and 15. It will, of necessity, be very informal, but that doesn't mean that those who can and want to visit Hanover on those dates, will not enjoy themselves. The dates, which fall on Sunday and Monday, do not permit much advance planning, but those who are present will improvise a reunion without difficulty. So reserve your rooms in advance.

A personal word from your secretary, who was able to enjoy an extended winter vacation over a three months' period without abdicating his secretarial responsibilities. As you know, George Grebenstein took over my class notes duties, and, as you also know, no one could have done a better job. My sincere thanks to Greb.

Secretary, 8 West Hill Place, Boston 14, Mass.

Class Agent, 86 South Main St., Hanover, N. H.
