JUNE 1959 JOHN R. ZILLMER '48

Equaling, if not surpassing, the nefarious schemes hatched in the smoke filled rooms of Madison and Washington, our ever-secret nominating committee came up with one well worn retread and, to give some semblance of keeping things on the up and up, three bright new faces for the annual meeting at Wulff's Island on April 22. The three new faces belong to Vice President, Phil Mayer '55; Secretary, Pete Henderson '51; and Treasurer, John Brennan '57. The retread, who could, some say, also use a new face, is John Zillmer '48, who was promoted or demoted, depending on how you look at it, from secretary to president. And, although it would seem to have nothing whatsoever to do with nominating, prior to the elections the nominating committee pushed through a resolution extending the term of the officers to two years. (Won't the guest speaker at next year's annual meeting be surprised when he actually has enough time to give the talk he planned to give?) A special vote of thanks should go to Rodger Trump '38 and Bill Randall '52 for the fine jobs they have done this past year as president and vice president, respectively, and to Bud Bray '50 for the outstanding job he has done as treasurer for 10, these many years. The new officers will appreciate receiving any suggestions that you may have for improving our Dartmouth activities in Wisconsin.

Our guest speaker for the evening was Bob Blackman, Dartmouth's rightly renowned football coach. This was Bob's first trip out here to the Wisconsin hinterlands. It was a real pleasure for us to hear his talk and to have an opportunity to get acquainted with him. Watching the movies that he showed of last year's Ivy League champions in action, it was easy to .see the reason for Dartmouth's football resurgence. The Big Green played good clean, rough, tough, well executed, and interesting football.

A terrific amount of work has been done by Bill Trump '46 and his enrollment committee this past year. Prospects look good for Wisconsin having a very outstanding contingent in the freshman class next fall. John Willetts '40 has just been re-elected to the Alumni Council. The fine work Johnny is doing on the council has been recognized by his selection as chairman of the National Enrollment Committee. - Save Wednesday, June 24, for the baseball outing. It's the Braves v. the Cards with dinner first at the Boulevard Inn. You will receive the details by mail. — By the time you read this the 1959 dues notices should have been mailed. So,

Don't forget to pay your dues.

Among those attending the April 30 dinner of the Dartmouth Club of Washington D. C., were (l to r) Clarence V. Opper '18, president of the Alumni Council; Barry Sullivan '36, newly elected club president; Fred C. Scribner Jr. '30, Under Secretary of the Treasury the featured speaker; Willis Fitch '17, retiring club president; and Brad Cole '43, secretary
