The always popular '28 fall reunion was a smashing success this year thanks to careful planning by President George Pasfield and Arrangements Chairman Herb Sensenig. The totally unexpected victory over Penn added joy to the weekend, already made memorable by the good company and the beautiful foliage.

The Norwich Inn and Motel were full of '28ers early Friday evening, many of whom made their way to Hanover to watch the traditional bonfire. After a leisurely lunch Saturday, our own bus took us to the stadium and later brought us back to Norwich.

This was the fifth of our annual fall reunions, and drew the biggest crowd yet 62 listed below, plus others I undoubtedly missed: The Si Warners, Brougham Wallaces, John Lawrences, Jack and1 Pearl Phelan and their sophomore son Jack, Topper Robinson, the Tim Paiges, Jim Campions, Sonny Middlebrooks, Ed Sawyer and guest, George and Suzanne Pasfield, Vera Flanagan and her beautiful cousin, Mrs. Burt Stiff and husband Burt (star Penn fullback in 1942), Ham Hankins (with a son in '62), John and Peggy Phillips and guests, the Howie Bushes, Class Agent George Emery, Maury and Virginia Cogan of Cleveland, who came the greatest distance, George and Eleanor Klein who came almost as far (spending Thursday night with the Skinners in Troy, Pa.), the George Boughtons, Hank Walkers and guests, Herb and Mimi Sensenig, Os and Mary Skinner, the Herb Russells (happy to have Carol back home after working in San Francisco), the Makie Makepeaces, Bill Marxes and son in '62, the Glens Falls contingent of insurance men and gentlemen farmers - the George Davises, with son and daughter-in-law, and the Larry Kenneys with their eleven-year-old son, and the Bill Mortons.

The only formal business at the Saturday night dinner was a vote of thanks to George Pasfield and Herb Sensenig for their work in arranging the reunion, and a vote to instruct them to plan a similar reunion next fall. A telegram from Craig Haines said that "due to ticker trouble" he was unable to be present; this was the first reunion he and Eleanor have missed.

John Phillips was getting around without his cast - he broke some bones in one foot when he stuck it out of a small boat as it was coming into a dock. His son Bob, who graduated from Dartmouth last June, is now at Columbia University Business School, and John '58 is in the Everett, Mass., office of Humble-Esso.

We are ready to start a campaign against low cars - on our way to the Sensenigs Friday night we got stuck in the mud where the road was being rebuilt near their home above Norwich. Herb had to drag us out with his big tractor. He and Mimi negotiate mud and snow successfully with a Saab and a JeeP".

The New York and Philadelphia papers of October 2, carried a picture of Hope Pasfield and the announcement of her engagement to Henry M. Ingram of Beaver Falls, Pa. They will be married in the Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church on December 17. Hope is an alumna of the Baldwin School and Smith. Henry attended the Hill School, Dartmouth, and is now a senior at Allegheny College.

Bob Monahan '29 of Hanover, whose election to the New Hampshire State Senate is assured (he was nominated on both tickets) has announced he will introduce a resolution, naming that section of Interstate Route 89 from Hopkinton to West Lebanon, the "Gov. Lane Dwinell Highway." Bob will be occupying the same seat Lane filled in 1953-54.

George and Ginny Smith were on a 75-ft. boat in the Bahamas when Hurricane Donna hit, but were not injured. They had dinner with Bruce and Thelma Lewis in Palm Beach and report that Bruce was looking forward to bringing his boat and six friends down from New Jersey via the intercoastal waterway.

Lin Gray is now assistant vice president of the Corporation Trust Co. and affiliated companies, a promotion which brings him from Wilmington, Del., to 120 Broadway, New York.

Our only television writer, Lou Pelletier, has moved from New York to 2920 Montcalm Ave., Los Angeles Craw Pollock says "everyting yost fine in Minnesota" - they sold their home in Gladwyne, Pa., and now live at 4706 Sunnyside, Edina, Minn.... Les Mason is now a professor at Montclair State College, Montclair, N. J.

"Who has the most grandchildren?" we were asked recently. We don't know, but would like to hear from some of you proud grandparents, regardless of how many you have. The Bruce Lewises, whose daughter Virginia was the first '28 child born after graduation, have seven.

Our son Scott, who graduated from Law-renceville last June, was awarded an English-Speaking Union scholarship for a full year at an English prep school. He chose Clifton which is located in Bristol. He is excited about rugby and in his first two weeks at school has worked up from the fourth to the first team.

A '28 dinner will be held November 16, at the Dartmouth Club in New York. Chairman Hank Walker will mail a notice, but let this be a reminder.
