Before minorities became rulers, the DAM had a Wah Hoo Wah column honoring alumni for life achievements. That was changed to "Give a Rouse for" which, to me, is a far cry from "Jolly Well Played."
In the December issue I asked for news from five persons whose names my wife drew from a hat. Only one of those five has contributed. Now, I am pleased to propose an old but meaningful toast "Raise Your Glasses to" Arthur Higgins, who wrote, "This is the only thing I ever won in a 'draw,' my name. I spent most of my adult life in the Chicago territory. Moved back east 13 years ago after retirement. My wife passed away ten years ago. I'm in excellent health and try to walk two to three miles a day. Also I'm watching out for my sister, who is older." Art's address is 173 Lincoln Street, New Britain, CT 06052.

My telephone rang. I answered and listened to a pleasant female telling me that she was conducting a survey and wanted to ask some questions. Her first question was, "What is your age?" I replied, "I'm old. I'm an octogenarian." Her response was, "What does that mean?"
Perhaps I should have asked her if she knew that William the Conqueror while clad in full armor could vault onto the saddle of a horse.
Also, which monarch established the English custom of eating with the fork turned bottom side up?
