With this issue, I intend to concentrate on the meritorious feats of '58s and attempt to play down that outworn marital issue. In essence, this month's sheet champions that lonely, courageous remnant of bygone pleasures, the bachelor '58. This is not to imply, however, that all of the following are still bachelors. We just won't mention it, that's all.

In the academic field of endeavor, Fred Hart recently received a master of science degree in electrical engineering from Thayer School. Fred's been a research fellow in Hanover the past two years and is also the recipient of the first place prize for a thesis, presented by the Dartmouth Society of Engineering. Hal Knapp got his master of edu- cation degree from Rutgers and is now teaching high school in Westwood, N. J. Harry Dodds, now in his last year at Yale Law School, spent part of the summer serving as legal intern in the office of the U. S. Attorney fox the Southern District of New York as Part, of a government training program.

John Hart received his master of science degree from lowa State in June, majoring in Plant Pathology. Palmer Beasley has been spending much of his time in Cali, Colomassisting in research on arteriosclerosis, having been given a grant by Harvard Med. School. Lars Persson received a master of science degree at Vanderbilt this last June.

Concerning those in the business field: Mike Goelet, on leave of absence as a Marine jet pilot, has been active in New York real estate investment and building circles. Skip Coggin is working as a manufacturing engineer of the technical services department of the container and chemical division of W. R. Grace and Co. in Boston. Ray Robbins is in Springfield, Mass., with the production technical service department of Monsanto Chemical Company's Plastics Division.

Buzz Hussey's with the Maine Farmers Exchange in Presque Isle, Me., working as a field salesman in potato sales. Roelof Kreulen has been appointed manager of the American Foreign Insurance Association's Okinawa offices, after having served as branch assistant in Tokyo and manager in Yokohama. Gary Blanchfield has joined the Sales Promotion staff of Wellesley Radio WNAC and WNACTV. Don Magnusson's doing graduate work in the Business School of the State University of lowa after which he plans a career in the banking industry.

Two June graduates of OCS at Newport. R.I., are Bill Stilwell and Pete Herman. Other military information concerns GaryFinerty, from whom I received a real welcome letter this summer, and who reports he's extended his Navy duty for two years and has been assigned to recruiting duty in L.A., where he plans to attend night school with his eye on a master's degree in Business Administration. As I doubtless mentioned sometime ago, Gary married Judy Alfano of Milton, Mass., in November of '58. Gary and Judy report a new family addition, a boy, Dana Thomas, born August 19, 1959. Along with that bit of stork news comes word that Dave Sharrock and wife are proud parents of a girl, Mary Ellen, born July 22, of this year.

Not feeling too prolific this month, I'm shutting down this mill at once. Keep me informed, people, but above all, keep the faith - and your discretion.

Okinawa was the scene of this reunion which brought together three Dartmouth men (l to r), Tom Taggart '59, Tom Kuhns '56 and Dave Pratt '58. All are with the Third AntiTank Battalion, Third Marine Division.
