The Dodgers lost the pennant yesterday, but the day was brightened appreciably by a surprise phone call from Bob Simpson at the Los Angeles International Airport. Bob and his bride were on their way to Salt Lake City, San Francisco, Australia, then back to Karachi, Pakistan for a brief stay until they are assigned to Pfizer Labs., Ltd., in Bombay, India. Bob will be the new Sales and Market Development Manager in that area, plus a proud new "poppa" in the not too distant future. Great to hear from you, Bob, and here's hoping you can be aboard for the 10th in Hanover this coming summer.

NEWS FROM THE EAST — Sherra Horton was admitted to partnership in the law firm of Sullivan, Greg and Horton effective June 1, 1962 - plus welcoming Sherman Duesenbury Horton III to the Horton home on August 10. Congratulations are in order "beaucoup" times for this, Sherm!

Bill Barlow, currently with the New York Central Railroad, is engaged to Lynn Houghton of Newark, N. J., and over Philadelphia way, Marv Klein married Ann Meyer of Melrose Park on September 8. Ann is a grad of Chatham College. Turn the clock back to August 4 and you will see the 8 P.M. marriage service of Bill Nichols and his bride, Gwendolyn Barrington, of Andover, Mass., take place. Gwen is a graduate of Abbott Academy, Mount Holyoke College, and Cornell University Medical College. She is a resident in radiology at The Grace-New Haven Community Hospital in New Haven. Bill is now Assistant Treasurer of the Andover Companies.

Up the Hudson in Rye, N. Y., Dick Lombard has been named co-chairman of the Rye United Fund for 1962. And down the Hudson at Rockefeller Center, Dick Thomas has been named Supervisor of Drug and Toiletries sales for Time Magazine. Also in the vast island of Manhattan, we heard that Clyde Claus has been elected an assistant treasurer of the Marine Midland Trust Co. of New York. And up where there are less people, but more beautiful fall colors because they do have trees there, Bill Johnson filed as a candidate in the Republican Primary for election as a Representative from Hanover to the New Hampshire Legislature. Bill has served as a Director of the Hanover Chamber of Commerce and the Hanover Recreational Council. Good luck, Bill, in November. At Waterbury Hospital in Waterbury, Conn., Dick Lena will wear his white coat as assistant resident in urology

Honorable son No. 3 was born to Dottie and Don Bigham on August 19 at 1:13 P.M. Thomas Wilcox Bigham will be No. 3 son's official title. And speaking of doctors, Captain Dick Kochman has been named chief of ophthalmological (Oh, pronounce it correctly this time!) services at Westover Air Force Base in Westover, Mass.

July marriage - I have one to report in the "progressive" state of Connecticut — Art Thomas to Catherine Higgens of Old Saybrook. She is a grad of the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing and Art a local attorney and vice president of the Old Saybrook Rotary Club.

We turn to the West now and report that Gus and Peg Hullman are fine and neighbors of mine in Los Angeles. Gus now in the Trust Department for Security First National Bank - still part of Gus is a wonderful Swedish brogue and sense of humor. And in the banking industry also, TonyFrank has been recently appointed a vice president of First Charter Financial Corporation which is a billion-dollar savings and loan company. Tony will direct marketing research, and new business development for the company's six subsidiaries. In July, the Franks had their second child - a boy.

By the way, who has a picture of BillCrotty, Jack Hall, Bob Nessen, Dick Werner or Brud Humphrey? Send it to me, please.

Best wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving Day — and remember June 21-23 in Hanover is your date with fun, relaxation, and reunion.
