When I was in Hanover for the first Dartmouth football game I reported seeing Budand Bob Munson and their wives who were there for the Club Officers Weekend. Since then, I learned that Bob was elected Club Secretary of the Year during that weekend by the club officers who had assembled in Hanover for the occasion. Congratulations Bob on the award, for which I know you worked very hard. I might further comment that relative to our small size the Class of 1948 has an unusually large proportion of its members serving as Dartmouth Club Officers throughout the country, which is evidence of the strong class support and Dartmouth loyalty we have among our class membership.

This past weekend I drove to New Haven and although I enjoyed the fresh air, I observed much mutual suffering by those few '48's whom I caught a glimpse of in the stands.

Rick and Mary Landon brought their oldest son Steve to the game. Rick is now working for a firm called Million Market Newspapers Inc. which places advertising in some of the larger newspapers.

I also saw Foxie and Helen Parker, Johnand Pat Hatheway, Lloyd and Joan Krumm and Jim and Peggy Nicholson. I am sure there were many others there also, but I just didn't happen to see them.

Charlie Randolph, advertising director of "Business Week" magazine since 1960, has been named publisher of another McGraw-Hill publication, a magazine called "Electronics." The new publisher joined McGraw-Hill in 1948 after Dartmouth and ,U.S. Navy days and until 1954 was a salesman for "Food Engineering," then a McGraw-Hill publication. He was shifted to "Business Week" as Eastern advertising sales manager and in 1960 became advertising director. Charlie lives with his wife Joan and three children in Weston, Conn. In addition to golf and skiing he finds time to serve as president of the local Little League.

After working for Cities Service here in New York and living over in New Jersey for years, Dave Anthony has been transferred to Bartlesville, Okla., where he is staff assistant to the coordinator of exploration and production. Dave and Pat have a daughter twelve and two sons, eleven and nine.

Last week I enjoyed a nice conversation with Marv Axelrod, who happened to be in New York on business. Marv said he played quite a bit of golf over the summer and otherwise was pretty well occupied with keeping the orders flowing in his business, which is men's and boys' sportswear. We are fortunate in that should we have any class work to be done in the Boston area, Marv stands ready to pitch in.

As if one successful business weren't enough these days, Don Funk is running two. He is a partner and co-owner of the super market. Funk Bros. Market, in his home town of Gridley, Calif., and he also owns Funk Bros. Ranch which raises quality Hereford cattle. Don and Donna report Don Jr. is now eleven, and the girls Debbie and Diane are ten and eight.

Tom Matthews now resides in Los Angeles where he has been named to the new position of National Sales Manager - OEM for Electronic Specialty Company of that fair city. Tom was formerly sales manager of the Connecticut office of L. L. Schley Co., a manufacturers' representative for several major electronics firms and before that was sales manager for Microtech, Inc., in Cheshire, Conn. He is now responsible for all Electronic Specialty manufacturers' representatives and for all direct salesmen calling on OEM accounts.

Once in a while I enjoy talking on the phone to Bud Gedney who lives across the county from me in Mamaroneck. Bud is in the advertising business with the firm of Lambert and Feasley. Ginny keeps busy with the three children, Chip now twelve, Lisa eight and Amy three.

Should any of you wives want to take a nice trip this winter, maybe you can talk your husband into flying down to South America and visiting the beautiful city of Lima, Peru. You could visit with Bob andGladys Newberg who have lived there many years and I'm sure would be happy to show a fellow '48 the town. Bob is active in the Dartmouth Club in Lima. He is import manager for the firm of Cia Wilbur-Ellis Co. Their son Edward is now five years old.

Last time I heard from Dave Rogers, he and Marion had three children, Kathy now twelve, Craig ten, and Sampson seven. Dave is a sales representative for the Skill Corp. in Chicago in case any of you in that area need a fine set of power saws.

One of those who I am sure I overlooked in the stands at the Yale game this year is Jim Matoon. Jim and Nancy live in nearby Hamden and always make the Yale game. Jim is commercial and industrial sales specialist for the large lamp department of General Electric in New Haven. Son Jim, Jr. is eight and Dick is four.

After serving for three years on President Kennedy's White House Staff in Washington, Dick Donahue has moved back home to Lowell, Mass., where he again has taken up his legal practice. Last report Dick and Nancy had seven children, but I'm probably one behind by now.

Here's wishing all of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
