OCTOBER 1964 THOMAS R. MCBURNEY, JAMES M. POLLARD

Here we go again. It was an eventful summer in these parts; lots of visitors and house guests from the class and also a new daughter, Susan, for the McBurneys. That's two for us and I think that will do it for awhile, thanks.

Many letters have arrived since last issue. Thanks to the senders. Eric Sailer wrote way back in May about the doings of the 60's who went from Dartmouth Med School up to McGill. Steve Larson interned in California and is now in his residency in Obstetrics at the Mayo "Clinic. Shelly Lippe is now at Providence General studying surgery. Incidentally, the Lippes had a baby girl, Renee, last spring. Dick Petrie interned in Montreal and is now in the Navy. As for Eric, he is in New Haven at Grace-New Haven Hospital taking his residency in Obstetrics.

Jo and Guy Piltz write that the "across the Pacific" traffic drops lots of 60's on their doorstep in Hawaii. The Piltzes are living in Waimanalo where Guy is the priest at a local church. They have one daughter, Linda. Pete (Tank) Herrick stopped in to see them on his way back from Viet Nam. Pete is now out of the service and is presently working for the Defense Department in Washington, D. C. Dick Goodman is also out in Hawaii, as a soldier. Other items reported by the Piltzes: Brad Lund is working for the Customs Department - so if you need some pot smuggled in, he's your man. Dave andJudy Harrison had a son, David Jr., way back in February. They now have three and are living in Brookside, N. J. Murray Janus writes that he and new wife Ellen are now settled in Richmond, Va. Murray got his law degree from the University down there in June 1963 and is now practicing. Al Danson should, by now, be working in the tax department of some New York law firm. When he wrote me last May, he was one of the prima teletype operators in the New Hampshire Air National Guard. Al's other claim to fame is that he's had an article published, "Territorially Limited Statutes and the Choice of Law Process." So, if you have nothing to do some cold winter's night, pull out your June edition of the Harvard Journal on Legislation Vol. 1 No. 2, and read it. Seriously, congratulations to Al. There must be some more of you scholarly types that have had things published. Let's hear about them!

Dick Phillips has just accepted a position as Instructor of Marketing at Colby College in Waterville, Me. He claims he's got a cheap pad and to all 60's going up that way he offers a free sack.

Dick Chase was the first of many visitors to come out our way this summer. Dick is now in his second year at Tuck. The Chases spent two years in Singapore so naturally we spent much time hearing about their experiences. Dick and Elaine have a house in Hanover and it sounds like they're leading the good life. Elaine is active in the theatre at Hopkins Center and Dick spent his summer traveling around the country interviewing investment companies.

John Hannon appeared one night with his new bride Gretchen. John is still in the Navy and stationed in Jacksonville. He had many interesting tales to tell about life aboard an aircraft carrier in the ranean. John is what they call an air intelligence officer. I'm not sure exactly what that means, but it did sound rather wild.

Mike and Sue Hollern were also in town for a week in August. They're still living in Palo Alto where Mike works for Stanford and they have two children. Jake and CarolCrothamel had stopped in to see them about two weeks before. Jake is now out of the Navy and will start teaching and coaching at Mercersburg Academy this fall.

Tom Wahman was in town for about 24 hours one day last week. He had just flown home to make a quick sermon at his old church in St. Paul. Tom and Sue spent most of the summer in Mississippi. Tom was engaged in voter registration and such, and Sue was with a traveling theater company. We didn't have much time to talk, but evidently they had a most interesting summer. The Wahmans are now back in New York.

That's it for this month. Write and tell me of your successes in life.
