Ahh, fall is again upon us with its glorious distinctive sounds: the "popcutbleed" of beer cans, the "sclortch" of mustard falling on your new suit from a soggy hot dog that you paid 75¢ for at Harvard Stadium, the "rippp" as you open the letter containing the $50.00 heating bill, the "craccck" in your spine as you stand up after raking all your leaves for the seventh time in three hours, a veritable symphony of euphoric sounds.

The above paragraph was lifted intact from Dutton Foster's soon-to-be-published autobiography, "The Decline and Fall of the Raisin Bran Dynasty in 12th Century Ohio." Best of luck, Dutton, we're all pulling for you to make the big time.

Now then, enough frivolity, and on to the serious business of quoting significant excerpts from some letters. Fred and BarbyFields have a fine young son, Peter, who's about nine months old now. Fred says "He still has a bit of a slice but his putting has improved." Fred is working for Bronson, Bronson and McKinnon in San Francisco as a trial lawyer. Mrs. Paul Nelson sent a dandy letter just full of news. She mailed it in April but the Pony Express rider had three horses shot out from under him and I just got it. Seems that Paul will be getting out of the Army in February '65 about the time his daughter Alice Marie Elsa Nelson is old enough to walk. Mrs. Nelson (Elaine) reports to having seen Larry George, JohnGarrish, Art Beatty, and Pitts Willard in the last year or so. They are all in various states of good health. Certainly is nice to get letters from lovely wives. Com'on girls grab your Scriptos and jump into the breach with a letter telling all about your husbands' idiosyncrasies and your beautiful children - I promise to listen.

Lt(jg) Hank Eberhardt and his wife Lynn are still in the Navy in Mayport, Fla. Hank's tour of duty expires in June of '65. There are two little Eberhardts, Mike and Sandra Leigh, who help Mommy chase snakes out of the yard whilst Dad bosses people around on the USS Mazama. Hank's travels have crossed his bow with such worthies as Daveand Betsy Loughran who are still stationed in Rota, Spain; Walt Schlieman, still in the Navy I guess; Harry Ames stationed aboard the USS Perry in Tampa; John Wooster who by now is working hard for Standard Oil; and John Reno who seems to run into everybody according to numerous reports or maybe you just get all your friends to write about you, huh Reno? Rick Husband and wife Julia now have two young ones to keep the Malthusian prophets at ragged nerve ends. Christopher Thomas is 'bout 7 months old now and helps his older brother keep an eye on daddy who keeps an eye on the business picture of American Sugar Company in Boston. Rick reports that Steveand Nancy Crisafulli have a young son to play with when Steve comes home from work at AT&T in NYC. Bill Hansen was reported to be in good shape much to our relief. Scotty Turnbull and family, Sandra (wife) and James Douglas (son) are living in Detroit where Scotty works for the Excello Corporation and is getting his Master's in English at night school. Rick's last report was on Ralph Barton, who with his wife Laura have two kids, Ralph Jr. and Beth. Ralph is living in Barrington, R. I., and working for the Rico Machine Tool Company. A card from Ron and Joan Wybranowski announced the arrival of their daughter Lisa who came to be on September 7. Ron and Joan and family are living in Hartford.

The mighty man of Phi Delt, Bill Horton, sent news of his adventures since graduation. Starting off with a tour of duty in the Air Force in Germany from which country he convinced, long distance, Miss Daryn McDonald to share his plight and they were married in July of 1963. Bill was at summer school at UCLA and now is at Harvard Business getting specials from Elsie's Delicatessen and probably having trouble with the hot dogs mentioned in paragraph one.

John Ratigan and Miss Barbara Anderson were married on September 19 according to my clipping - how's about that, Rats? Did you go through with it or didja jump out a window? (See how cleverly we encourage men to write - Rats will be forced to write and clear his name of this public accusation of cowardice - heh, heh.) Neal Musmanno is teaching English at Bradford Academy in Vermont. Bill Haynsworth and his wife and daughter recently moved to Wellesley, Mass., as Bill commutes to Boston to work for the law firm of Goodwin, Proctor and Hoar. WallyPalmer and Miss Meredith Towner are planning a November 28 wedding. Another engagement finds Bill Beck and Miss Judith Taw planning to join forces. Bill is pressently at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Bob Snider and Miss Carol Tash were married on August 16 in Worcester, Mass., they're living in Boston. Bob Fuller passed his Connecticut bar exam and expects to have to set aside the thrills of the legal profession shortly for a tour of duty with Uncle Sam. Another lawyer is George Jackson who is living in Hartford with his wife Judy. Still another lawyer (whew!) Bill Atkinson married Miss Bette- Belle Eaton in Paterson, N. J., last September. Dick Field and Charlie Buffon were among those who saw the newlyweds off to their Bermuda honeymoon.

You will remember the concern expressed above for Bill Hansen, well, come to find out he is not only in good health but is feeling so frisky that he up and got married to Miss Theodora Fisher of Greenwich, Conn. Charlie Forsdick was reported to have been skulking in the background to make sure everything went smoothly.

John King had a report about several erstwhile '61's who have taken the trip up the altar recently. Art and Julie Bookstrom are about to celebrate their first wedding anniversary. They are living in Frisco, Colo., where Art is working as a geologist. Chuck and Sharon Ritchie are living in Minneapolis where Chuck is planning to teach at his old alma mater, Blake School. King claimed that Chuck was going to do graduate work in history and study the migrations of the Upper Nebesna band from 1832 to 1835, but I think that's just a rumor. Finally, King said that he and Jane are happy as can be with their new little daughter, Sara Jane, who was born on February 18.

That's it, men, be good lads and drop me a line and watch out for those hot dogs!

Sally and Tom Andrews '60 have left forPeace Corps teaching jobs in Ethiopia.
