New York '19ers turned out in force for the monthly luncheon at the Dartmouth Club in New York on February 3. On hand were Ken Huntington, Nick Sandoe, Win Batchelder, Lou Stone, Ed Fiske, Dick Dudensing, Mose Robinson, Ray Legg, Tom Bresnahan, Bri Greeley and Teto Webster - a fine showing.

A recent card from Harry and Lil Colwell, who are taking a South Pacific cruise on the "SS Monterey," Matson Line, indicates that they are having a simply wonderful time and were headed for Sydney, Australia for their next stop. They report BobLoring on board.

The Delray area has quite a few '19ers as winter visitors — the Rands had dinner with Chet and Virginia Deinond a short time ago, and Jack Mclntyre from Dayton, Ohio, Ed and Madalyn Warnke are here, likewise Jock and Edna Murray visiting Winchester friends. Rock and Alice Earle Hayes arrive here on Ocean Ridge as these notes are being knocked out on a nice warm and humid Florida morning. We ran into Don Lovejoy in Palm Beach and he looks in his customary fit condition, still dividing his time between Gulf Stream and New York. Later in the season we hope to go over the West Coast and check up on Fred Daley, Champ Clements, Dick Werfelman, Art Brentano, and Bunny Collins. Greif and {Catherine Raible stopped by for a short time on their way south to Miami Beach. The Si Steins are at the Kenilworth and we hope to catch up with them soon. Other expected visitors to now sunny Florida are Dot and Stu Russell who have been spending the winter in Scottsdale and touring Mexico and California. However, they are starting to think about their love nest on Rip Road in Hanover, although Coffy Larmon had reported that all is well.

Bill (Grogan) McMahon is always good for a laugh in his annual letter, quoting in part, "Thank you for the birthday greeting and I will write the administration to appoint you Director of the P.D.O.B.C. (prompt delivery of birthday cards) with headquarters in Boynton Beach and Hanover. Confirmation no doubt will be held up until it is learned whether or not New Hampshire goes feminine in the coming primaries. Don't worry about your golf game, you can't be as bad as the worst. Remember now we are like old wine, of good vintage, should be kept in a cool dark cavern, kept out of the light and heat of the sun, and, above all turned over periodically, and should not be shaken. We are, my friend, to be admired and not concerned. That card does bring back memories of '15 and I wonder who Markey '18 had in mind when he drew that picture."

In Win Batchelder's January Smoke Signal you read the list of those who are coming to our 45th Reunion June 15-18, also those who may come. For the latter if you see the name of an old pal how about getting after him and persuading him that he should surely come to this one. You will be hearing from Max Norton with all the details soon. '18 and '20 promise a great big reunion so we can't let those characters beat us out on attendance figures.

The Alumni Records reports the passing of George W. Cleaveland in Ohio on January 19, 1963 and, in 1951 in Los Angeles, of Kendall Keely, who transferred to Yale after freshman year. Both men had evidenced no interest in the College for many years and we have no record of their activities or their families.

By now you have all heard from the Alumni Fund Office in Hanover or from Fred Daley and his assistants, regarding the 1964 Fund. As noted last month in this column, 1919 has done well these last few years, due to the extreme generosity of a limited number of members of the class. How about the rest of us, and particularly those of you who really make only token gifts, getting realistic about your giving to Dartmouth and getting up in the century class, where 1919 is somewhat lacking in numbers in comparison with classes of our time.

Cotty Larraon has appointed the following nominating committee: Chairman, Edward E. Martin, 145 Forest St., Wellesley Hills 81, Mass.; Howard W. Cole, 75 Federal St., Boston, Mass., and Harry E. Colwell Jr., 124 North Ave., New Rochelle, N.Y. Spider states that any and all suggestions for the next group of officers are most welcome. Just write or call any member of the committee.

And remember June 15-18 - our 45th, and here's hoping that we have the largest reunion ever, despite the fact that our numbers are shrinking as the years go on.
