"Two events the past year bring happiness: My nephew, Elliott Moren, is in Dartmouth this year and likes it. Also, Immanuel Church, Beverly, Mass., which I organized while a student in 1903, now a strong church in a growing city, invited me back to celebrate their sixtieth. They are planning a fine new building, their second one. 'Praise the Lord!' " A fine tribute to you, Perley.
From "Casita entre las Lomas," Tucson, Ariz., Theodora, widow of Harold P. Hath-away, sends a full page typed Christmas greetings. "Each year has one or more outstanding scenes that become part of the tapestry we call memory, and to us the deep red of chili peppers drying on the sides of the 'dobe homes' in Chimayo, and the carpet of golden flowers and purple asters that lined the walls in mid-September, give a sense of welcome and warmth. What more can the weary travelers wish except a warm welcome and a glass of cool water? When you drive down our road, you are assured of 'A happy house, whose rooms all seem to say,/ Come in, you're welcome any day.' Hasta luego."
