While the pea green freshmen slowly assimilate into their new environment, our thoughts are also on education but more on the results of it.

One of the highly educated types, HardyHendren - Dr. William H. III - has been promoted to Clinical Associate in Surgery on the faculty of medicine at the Harvard Medical School. After Hardy graduated cum laude, he went on to get his medical degree at Harvard where he also graduated cum laude. Now he lives in Chestnut Hill, Mass., and we would like to hear from him as to his family status, etc.

More on the educational side comes to light in that Henry J. Brezinski is now teaching social studies at Salem Central School and has just been awarded a National Defense scholarship for six weeks' study in advanced American History at Dartmouth. He received his master's degree in education from the University of Vermont and did more graduate study at State University in Albany plus Cornell School of Industry and Labor Relations, which he attended on another scholarship. Before coming to the Salem School System, Henry taught in Arlington, Vt., where he also coached basket- ball, baseball and soccer.

And from Henry's awards, we head into the great news that Bud Nossiter has just received the Sidney Hillman Foundation Award for his book, "The Mythmakers: An Essay on Power and Wealth." Our congratulations are certainly in order.

Just received a clipping from Julie Sayer announcing that the Reverend R. DeWittMallary has been instituted as the first rector of All Saints Church at 230 E. 60th Street, New York City. This is the first new Episcopal parish to be established in the diocese in 14 years. DeWitt served in the Merchant Marine during World II, then graduated from the General Theological Seminary in 1951. He served as rector in Fishkill, N. Y., until his appointment as vicar of St. Thomas Chapel in 1960. It is St. Thomas Chapel which has become the new All Saints Church.

Our old Newsletter Editor, Hugh M. Chapin, has just been made president of the 3200-member Insurance Brokers Association of Massachusetts. Hugh began his career as special agent for the Glens Falls Insurance Company in 1949. Then, from 1953 to '56 he was associated with Field & Cowles of Boston before acquiring the Robert H. Smith agency. His present agency, Chapin-Wood, is a partnership of our own Willard Wood which was formed in 1961. Hugh has always been active in both town and alumni affairs and has just completed a term as president of the Class Newsletter Editors Association. Speaking of that, I guess Hugh felt he could go no further in achieving glory for the class and upon expiration of his term as president of the Association, he resigned as our own Newsletter Editor.

Of course, we are all very sorry to lose Hugh's great talent in projecting the news of our classmates, but we are equally pleased to say that Doug Birch has agreed to take it over. Doug is an Advertising Manager at P. Lorrilard & Company, and we are sure he will strive, if not to surpass, at least equal Hugh's fine Newsletters.

Jack Gray (J. T. to keep the Grays all separate) has just joined Ralston Purina Company, having left Guild, Bascom & Bonfigli in San Francisco to do so. Jack will be Manager of Marketing Services in the Poultry Products Division, where he will handle all poultry food items marketed by the company. His only regret is probably the fact that he is leaving San Francisco to headquarter at the company's general offices in St. Louis.

Just picked up a release from Chicago way that states Dr. Hjalmar S. Sundin gave a speech at the Stream Protectors Association on the "Operation and Maintenance of Primary Treatment Facilities." Hjalmar is associate design engineer of Baxter and Woodman and holds master's degrees from both Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the University of Illinois. He is a registered professional engineer and structural engineer in the state of Illinois.

Another award has just gone to RichardHollerith, Industrial Design Director of the Monroe International Division of Litton Industries. Dick, who is a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Art and a member of the Industrial Design Society of America, accepted the award for designing the first printing calculator with automatic decimals.

And, a final award goes to Tom Leggat, who has formed a new real estate company partnership to be called Leggat, McCall and Werner at 10 Post Office Square, Boston. Tom was formerly vice president and director of R. M. Bradley Company and has had over ten years of industrial and commercial experience plus a law degree from Harvard, 1953. Tom becomes president of the new firm and certainly has our best wishes for a successful career for both his associates and their clients.

Now that we are back in the swing of things, let us hear from you all as news is always welcome.
