At last spring is in the air. Taxes have been paid - I think — and now we have no worries until our IRS returns are audited. If you just happen to be a bit concerned about your 1965 tax free deductions may I suggest — but why waste space because I'm sure you've already sent your 1965 Alumni Fund contribution to Hanover.
Moving up the line at Morgan Guaranty in New York City is Bob Rex. Bob was recently appointed an assistant vice president at the bank. He has been with Morgan since 1960 and prior to the new appointment was an assistant treasurer.
In January the State Department announced that Sam Bartlett was appointed a career Foreign Service Officer. The appointment makes Sam a Vice Consul and a Secretary in the Diplomatic Service. He is presently attending the Foreign Service Institute in Arlington, Va., in preparation for his overseas assignment. Before joining the State Department Sam was associated with the Boston law firm of Ely, Bartlett, Brown & Proctor. He received his LL.B. from Harvard Law School. Sam and his spouse Joan have three offspring — Thomas, Margaret and Mary. If Sam gets lucky he'll get sent to Tanzania, that "quiet, ideal" African post where Kent Crane is stationed.
From brother Ken comes word that BobTyson is well entrenched at Harriman Ripley in New York. Bob is learning all about that "intriguing and ever-changing" stock and bond business. Bob and wife now have two children and live in White Plains.
Wedding bells soon will be ringing for Pete Cooley and his fiancee Martha Uhrig of Mission Hills, Kansas. The future Mrs. Cooley attended Skidmore College. Pete is presently practicing law in Los Angeles. He received his LL.B. at Stanford.
On the international front, Tony Appel Segal is an important cog in the CBS News Bureau in Paris. According to my informants, Tony has appeared as a correspondent on numerous CBS-TV coverages of news developments in Europe.
I had an opportunity to catch up on some news with Bill Duvall while he was in San Francisco last month. Bill is headquartered in Pittsburgh where he is associated with U.S. Steel. He is presently functioning in Big Steel's Market Research Department. Bill and his spouse have two toddlers - a boy and girl combination.
TODDLER: At least the news has provided a count of one this month. John Bradford King arrived on March 1 and thereby raised the infant count to three in the BobKing family. Prior to Brad's arrival Bob and Dottie had a strong female contingent — two girls, Jennifer and Cynthia.
BREVITS: Harvey Epstein is engaged in the insurance business in New York City. Gerry Cabatiiss is pursuing a career in geology and is presently domiciled in Wellesley, Mass. Bill Pownall is residing in New York City where he is rendering his talents to the accounting profession.
Next month the big AF push will be in full swing. By the time you read this the Fund Drive will be one month along and I have great confidence that '57 as per usual will be setting a blistering pace.
