Nothing to cheer a grumpy fellow up like a nice spring day the first of March and a glance at the old mail bag that reveals it full. Lotsa news about babies and business and moving (someone is always moving).

In speaking of babies and of the peat Teevens-Schiffeahaus duel for leadership in production, it seems I've been slighting Bob and Nancy Meanix. They closed the gap on both other parties last October 26 when their third daughter, seventh child, Kate, was born. Nancy reports the kids range in age from 10 down to the baby so they must have been busy as the others all these years. I mean those things don't just happen overnight - do they! Nancy also reports she's retiring from the race so that leaves only Mary Teevens.

Also got a note from Bill Nichols up in Chelmsford, Mass., reporting the arrival of his first daughter, second child, Wendy Sue, on October 18, 1965.

Then there are those of us who really know how to go at this business scientifically; those of us who know just how to get two of each child-type. One more who's joined our select club is John F. Creamer Jr. (Yes, gents, that's the same fellow we knew as "Tank" back when.) He reports child number four, son number two but doesn't give me the date of birth. He also reports a new job. He is now president of Diversified Systems, Inc., a complex of automotive manufacturing and distribution. Though his company is in New Jersey, Jack still lives in Mamaroneck, N. Y., so he can be near his home golf club, Winged Foot. Why not? He's one of the better golfers there and member of the Board of Governors.

There are a couple of notes about recent moves. Seems ol' Bill Fisher has left us New York toilers for the balmier West Coast. He's moved his insurancing to San Francisco where he's taken up headquarters at 2200 Sacramento Street.

And one of the more interesting moves of recent months has to be that of Tom. Fenton. After working as a reporter for the Baltimore Sun for the past four years, Tom is being sent to head the Rome Bureau of that famous paper. (No, that's not Rome, N. Y.) In June he will move his wife, Simone, and their two children to Italy. His business address, in case you're ever in Rome, will be c/o Baltimore Sun, Via del Plebiscitto 112. Arrieviderci, Tom — or however it's spelled.

Not too long ago I reported Bob Holmes had been named branch manager for Boston of the data processing division of IBM. Now comes news that Bob was named registration chairman of the 1966 Spring Joint Computer Conference to be held in Boston, April 26-28. Even now there is time, perhaps, for you computerers to dash oif a registration to Bob, and although he has been expecting to have 3,000 in attendance this notice will undoubtedly raise that estimate substantially! Hope you can handle them all, Bobby.

More honors come to Bill Thornton. First of the year he was elected to the Board of Directors of Savings Bank of Manchester, Conn. Bill, as you know, from having followed this column so religiously, is president of Manchester Sand and Gravel Co. (Getting to be so many presidents out of this class it gives a feller an inferiority feeling.)

Over in Montvale, N. J., our own BobKelly recently was made campaign chairman for the annual Boy Scout Fund Drive. This was not entirely unusual since Bob served as town auditor for the Scout drive in 1961, '62 and '63. Bob is manager of the Montvale office of the County Trust Company (Bergen County, that is) and assistant vice president of that bank. He's also managed to get in that magic circle of fathers with two boys and two girls!

This class has its share of vice presidents, too. Consider Norman F. Barrett Jr. Norm was recently elected vice-president and a director of R. M. Bradley & Co. up in Boston. Norm has been with the real estate firm since 1961, specializing in industrial real estate, land development, brokerage and real estate counseling. He lives in tick, Mass., with wife, Anne, and three daughters.

Got another correction this month, too Not long ago — or so it seems — I reported that Dave Schwartz was given the "Young Federal Lawyer Award" by the American Bar Association. It was the Federal Bar Association which gave the award, and Dave informs me that, though smaller than the AMA, this group is more selective. Anyway Dave has moved from the ICC to be Assistant Director for Transportation Policy Development in the Commerce Department (And I suppose I've got that wrong, too.) Dave also reports that he received an announcement that Dave Drexler was made a partner in the law firm of Morris, Nichols Arsht, and Tunnell in Wilmington, Del' Now why do you suppose I didn't get that announcement?

Well, you guys go on keeping those things from me and you'll see. This column will just. ...
