Winter vacations are popular these days, but it is a problem to finance one after meeting those second semester college tuition bills. However, if you do manage a ski trip to Vermont, remember that Dr. EdHyde is one of the staff members of the Green Mountain Clinic at Northfield. His son, Douglas, a graduate of Hamilton College, is attending the Boston University Law School, and daughter, Catherine, is a junior at Mount Holyoke. If you ski in the Manchester, Vt., area and want a second home nearby, Gib Sykes' wife, Ann, is a real estate broker in Dorset. She can probably turn up a chalet, A-frame, or rental to your liking. I recently purchased a house in Newfane, Vt., for weekend retreat winter and summer. The new highways have made Vermont an easy weekend commute from Fairfield and Westchester Counties. This has caused a boom in southern Vermont real estate prices.
It might be interesting to match your college tuition expenses against Dave andRosamond Putnam of Keene, N. Y. James is married to Judy Helms and is a Hanover College student. Their daughters, Rosamond and Louise, are both students at Wellesley. That keeps father's shoulder to the wheel.
Dick and Nikki Spong probably aren't venturing too far from Washington this winter. They spent four weeks in the fall in Italy and Yugoslavia. They fell in love with Florence and Dick regards himself as a free-wheeling one-man relief committee to help them recover from the recent flood disaster. Dick should contact Frank Kappler, a professed Florentine, who sent his customary Christmas card expenditure to Flor- ence for the library restoration work. The Spongs thought Yugoslavia startingly beautiful, but the cooking oil too much for the olfactory senses.

Bill graduated from Boston University where he majored in mathematics. It was a happy holiday for Sam and Jane Morse who arrived home to Milton, Mass., after a twomonth journey from New Zealand, where they had spent the past year. They were particularly impressed with Japan, India, and Greece, and everywhere sought out those people working in children's literature which is of particular interest to them.
Bill Gibson has the honor of being the only fulltime student in the class. Bill is retired from the U.S. Foreign Service. He and his wife, Dora, are living in Alexandria, Va., while he is studying for his doctorate in economics at the American University in Washington, D. C. While on the Capitol scene President Johnson recently approved recess promotions to the temporary grade of major general to five Marine Corps brigadier generals, one of whom was John G.Bouker. Fred has graduated from Harvard College and from the Harvard Business School. Steve attended Dartmouth and the Medical School and is presently a senior at Harvard Medical. Nancy is a freshman at the Connecticut College for Women in New London, Conn. We seem to have a good number of children taking over in the medical profession. Al and Ginny Jenkin's son, Michael, graduated from Dartmouth and Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. Al. is with E. I. Du Pont De Nemours & Co. in Wilmington, Del. Ben and Beryl Moyer have a son, Peter, studying at Columbia Medical School after graduating from Harvard. Their son, Ben III, is at Cornell Graduate School of Business. In Stratford, Conn., Probate Judge Tom Coughlin is urging reform in the probate court system of the state. He has taken steps to carry out campaign promises made during his successful bid for reelection in November, and has requested Stratford's state representatives to seek passage of a bill which would put probate judges on salary, enable them to impose tines on delinquent administrators and executors of estates, and give more power to the probate court to speed up adoption procedures. Tom was active in probate reform before the appearance of the current best seller, "How to Avoid Probate."
There hasn't been much news from the sunny south even though we seem to have more classmates in Florida each year. Don't forget to return the information card which will be used for our new class directory. We want to have it in your hands by June.
