June 13-16 is only three months away. Gib Sykes, our Thirtieth Reunion chairman, is still patiently waiting for all your replies to complete plans for what promises to be a great reunion in Hanover. We have added to the affirmative list the following classmates — Andy Schmidt, John Ovitz, Bob Fernald, John Marsh, Buz Chapin, Ted Olson, Joe Whitney, Tom Parker, Bill Gibson, Tino Lando, Brew Torrie, Bob Tyler, Pep Minte, Lou Benezet, Bill Hoffman, Dick Tucker, Baxter Fullerton, Ed Higbee, Dick Morton, Tommy Thomas, Len Mead, Frank Kappler, Cliff England, Pete Fitzherbert, Al Gibney, Stoney Jackson, and Dick O'Hare. Most all of these gentlemen will be accompanied by wives and assorted children. It all adds up to 74 classmates, 70 wives and 76 children with a large group of possibles sitting on the fence.

Snow finally arrived in the New England area saving ski slope operators from financial disaster. However, winter vacations and/or business trips to the south have been popular. Gil and Fran Balkam were in Florida for two weeks. Gib Sykes pursued oil operations in Venezuela. Art and BettyLevin deserted Scarsdale for the Coral Reef Hotel in Barbados. They were pleasantly surprised to find Ray and Peg Reitman checked into the same hotel. The Levins are most grateful for the recovery of their son, Ted, from severe injuries received in an auto accident last year. It was Ted's freshman year at Dartmouth and the tragic crash claimed the lives of three of the five students in the car returning from a visit to Smith College. Ted has resumed his studies at Dartmouth this year.

In Los Angeles Dick Hefler has been hard at work to insure a large audience for the spring vacation appearance of the Dartmouth Glee Club in the new auditorium of the L. A. municipal cultural center complex. Dick is planning to come east in June for reunion and a board meeting in New York. His daughter, Olivia, is in her freshman year at Mount Holyoke College. Bob Morris is practicing law in Los Angeles and reports that of his three sons, Michael has graduated from college, David is in college, and William is still in grammar school. The Glee Club will also appear in San Francisco which should attract some of our classmates in that area. Dr. Joe Carson has a medical practice in Palo Alto and can probably claim the youngest child in the class. Mrs. Carson gave birth to Christine just seven months ago. Their son, Davey, is attending Whittier College in California. Dr. Joe sees Dr. John O'Hare frequently since their offices are in the same medical building. Dr. John is an obstetrician. Medically, we are well represented in the San Francisco area. Dr. Stan Ogush specializes in internal medicine in Grass Valley. He and his wife are looking forward to a trip east to reunion in June. Sumner Burrows is another Bay resident engaged in the wholesale wine and liquor business. Sumner is active in wine distributor trade associations which are promoting our domestic vintages. He is also active in local politics.

In Utica, N. Y., Russ Hurd has announced the engagement of his daughter, Lucinda, to Theodore Stebbins of Little Rock, Ark. Lucinda is a student at Wellesley and Ted is attending Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration after graduating from Harvard College.

On Dec. 29 a testimonial dinner in Mendon, Mass., was given by the Draper Corporation to honor vice president Henry Billings who had resigned after 25 years' service with that organization. Hank had served as a director and comptroller of Draper. He resides with his family in Framingham Center. While we are in the Boston area, it should be noted that Little, Brown Company will publish a children's book on March 22 written by Sam Morse. It is entitled "All in a Suitcase," and contains illustrations by Barbara Cooney.

In January William Reed was elected president and chief executive officer of the Jordan Marsh Company of Boston, the largest unit of the Allied Stores Corporation. Bill had been vice president and general merchandise manager of Jordan Marsh's upstairs store for many years. Allied Stores operates 108 stores including Stern Bros, and Getz department stores in New York City.

If you are contemplating any real estate purchases in the Nashua, N. H., area, you have a friend at the First Federal Savings and Loan Association in that city. He is Harry Coronis, newly elected vice president. This must make Harry just about the busiest citizen in town since he is still president and treasurer of Industrial Reproductions, Inc., vice president-asst. treasurer of Coronis Cleaners, and underwriter for your insurance needs.

A recent ski trip to Vermont failed to turn up any familiar faces riding the chairlifts at Okemo or Magic Mountain. However, Dang Scherman and his family did spend a week at Magic Mountain enjoying the convenience of the Dostal Lodge directly across from the slopes. Dang commutes to his position in New. York as one of LIFE'S editors from his home on High Tor overlooking Haverstraw Bay on the Hudson River. The view is spectacular from the beautiful contemporary home which Dang practically built himself.

A new address has arrived for Bob Blake at 1021 Forestview Lane, Glenview, Ill. Bob is still with Clark Equipment Company in the Prudential Plaza, Chicago, as national accounts manager for the midwest region. Dexter Martin has taken up residence in Frostburg, Md., where he is assistant professor of English at the Frostburg State College. Bill Gibson and his wife have returned from Honolulu and are residing at the Army and Navy Club in Washington, D. C.

The heavy snow in late January which crippled the middle Atlantic states caught Jim Tindle at his Valley Forge home. He was really snowbound and isolated and was worried that he wouldn't be able to attend a special meeting in Hanover on Feb. 5. The United States government is planning a national shrine of the Valley Forge area and since Jim's home is in that plot, he will probably be looking for a new place shortly.

All of the plans haven't been announced for the Thirtieth, but Dick Morton will be toastmaster at the Class dinner on June 14 at which Dr. Len Mead of Tufts University will be the main speaker.

This is the Chinese year of the Horse. A word to the wise is sufficient. Get on yours and ride it to Hanover. June 13-16.
