There were quite a few familiar faces helping to fill those new east stands at Memorial Field on Oct. 12. Although the Big Green experienced a rather rough afternoon at the hands of Princeton, there was a lot of enjoyment in renewing some old friendships.
Bill Sadd, along with his young son, made the journey up from Boston for the game. Another of the Bullet's favorites, Dave Usher looked fit enough to fill in at defensive end. Gary Spiess was the successful attorney-type alumnus as was JohnWalters.
Kent Slaby and the Mrs. traveled from Dayton. This was the first time back for Kent. With Kent at the game was Marty Quadland. Others in attendance were Bob Aiken over from Vermont, Carl Palmer and Bill Pierce from "fun city." Bruce Feldman, Stu Polly, and Frank Milon stopped by at half time. John and Jill Schiffman entertained after the game and among those in attendance were Gary Swartz and SunnyKabler. There were many others in Hanover that day, and for failing to include their names, I fault my memory and the usual hazards of Dartmouth weekends.
Tom Tew is striking out on his own these days and next time you get nailed in one of those Florida speed traps, just contact Tom at his Miami law office.
The man to see for a friendly loan in New Jersey is Bob Scott, who was recently appointed to the advisory board of the First National Bank of Scotch Plains. Bob is also president of the R. E. Scott Mortgage Company and is an active member of several realty boards in New Jersey. I would imagine Bob feels just a bit more comfortable after the presidential election.
Also on the move is Dave Downie who is the new director of corporate development with Denny's Restaurants, Inc., a national restaurant chain. Dave and Leslie along with young Dave Jr. are residing in LaMirada, Calif." from where Dave watches over the company's activities in mergers and acquisitions.
Not all of us have concluded our military time and presently we have at least two still active in Viet Nam. Capt. GeoffreySmith, who spends his hours with the 4258th Strategic Wing of the Air Force in Thailand, is serving as an administrative officer whose duties involve active support of Viet Nam-bound fighters and bombers. Also an Air Force Captain is Art Pettengill who recently received the meritorious service award as a communications officer.
Perhaps there is something to this computer stuff after all. Last August Ellen Nesheim was permanently matched up with fellow IBM employee, John Hubbard, and they are presently located in Poughkeepsie, N. Y. Also hitched in June was Jim Blair who exchanged vows with Margaret Becker of Queens, N. Y. Jim and Margaret welcome all '62's to Cambridge where Jim is completing law school at Harvard.
Planning to get married in February is Bill Obenshain who will step down the aisle with Penelope Jane Barbour of Abington, Pa. Bill just recently completed a five-year tour with Uncle Sam's Navy.
Last summer I bumped into a few charter members of the bald man's drinking club, Ron Tagney. Ron is teaching at the college level in Mass., and spends his spare time and capital investing in New Hampshire real estate. Ron reports that he is frequently in contact with Brock Saxe.
Dave Ebersbach keeps busy with his wife and two children in Atlanta where he white gowns it as a surgical intern at Grady Memorial Hospital. The next announcement concerning the evils of tobacco may be delivered by Bill Klein who entered the U.S. Public Health Service last July. Prior to that Bill interned in internal medicine at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn.
The white stuff made an early appearance this year, arriving November 8. How about some newsy reports on the Yale weekend to improve our mood.
