Just nine short months to prepare for our 10th, fellows. With all the big decisions facing the Trustees this year, there should be lots to talk about in June. Start making plans right now. Don Samuelson welcomes any suggestions. Just drop him a line.
It was an eventful summer here in New Hampshire. In late May we were delightfully surprised by a visit from Jim and JanMurar who were combining a business and pleasure trip to New England. Jim brought me up to date with news of Al Huck, CarlJaeger and others. Only recently Jan wrote to say that daughter Lisa arrived this summer to team up with Robbi and Mandy. Hope it won't be another nine years, Jim.
In June, Sue and I traveled to Hanover to check out the '61s and see what might be in store next June. Better start getting into shape now.
Another surprise visitor to Rochester this summer was John Wilkinson. John and Judy have moved to Amherst, N. H., a small town near Manchester, where John is now toiling for the Manchester Banks, one of the fastest growing concerns in N. E.
Dave Walsh's lovely Mrs. (Jim Murar's sister), Emmy, wrote last spring in an effort to keep us up to date. Dave and Emmy have moved to San Diego where Dave is Zone Business Manager of Chevrolet. Emmy says Dave has the three boys out on the golf course regularly (no ping pong?). The Walsh's were caught near the center of that California earthquake last February, but other than the terrifying experience, escaped unharmed and moved to San Diego while their house was still standing.
Sid Leavitt slipped into Hanover and picked up his degree last year. Sid was graduated summa cum laude with high distinction in Russian. Sid is also making news as the fellow who covered up his license plates. The N. H. legislature, with the active backing of the Manchester Union Leader declared that all N. H. license plates should contain the state motto, "Live Free or Die." Sid objected to this, covered up his plates, was arrested, and is on his way to the Supreme Court.
Josh Rich, currently in Califon, N. J. and last year in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is now director of re- search services at Reynolds & Co. in NYC. As such, he will be responsible for all retail research activities and servicing sales offices for the company, a nationwide brokerage firm with 56 offices throughout the country. Before his new appointment, Josh had worked for Reynolds as assistant director of research, research coordinator, and senior security analyst, covering the building industry. According to my records, his family consists of wife Karen and son John Allan VI. Any corrections on that?
On his way up is Dick Whitfield. Dick was recently appointed Director of Group Technical Planning and Development for the Materials Technology Group of How- met Corporation in Greenwich, Conn. Dick is responsible for several inventions, technical papers and reports, and is a member of several professional engineering societies. Another New Englander moving along is John Stevens, who is now director of public information at N. E. Electric System in Lowell, Mass. John has been climbing the ladder of N. E. since 1964 and now makes his home in Northboro, Mass.
Last March a new consulting firm was started up in Princeton. Jeffrey Reinert is the Senior Vice President of Management Advisors of Princeton, Inc. It appears that Jeff abandoned the legal field to become active in the firm which is structured to provide a balance of modern consulting techniques and seasoned executive experience. Frank Mori is making some strides with American Can Co. He was recently named Vice President of Marketing Products. Previously, Frank was director of sales for the company.
