Now that everyone has fully recovered from the 10th, and has had time to adjust to the fact he can no longer accomplish what he used to accomplish, it's time to settle down in quiet solitude and await the arrival of middle age.

Unfortunately, Tom Laris doesn't understand this. While we struggled to capture yesterday in June, Tom was preparing for the Olympic Games. At the Olympic trials in Eugene, Oregon, Tom ran in the 10,000-meter race. Although he was eliminated, (fourth place finish), it was hard not to envy Tom as I watched the tube from the prone position.

In case you're interested, Paul Tsongas is still the crusading politician in Massachusetts. Last reports had him actively engaged in a fight for county commissioner in Middlesex County. Currently he is serving as a city councilman in Lowell, and previously, he was with the Attorney General's office.

An organization that guarantees very fast promotion is your local alumni club. JayPierson now heads up the Dartmouth Club of the Hanover area.

Bob Brodkey sent a nice note from Israel, where he has been for the past year: " . . . studying Hebrew, trying to gain a general familiarity with the country, exploring personal roots and catching up on several years of reading." If you're passing through Jerusalem, stop in and see Bob (c/o the Moos Family, 26 Rabek Street, Rehauia, Jerusalem).

Hoping to find time for evening tennis in California is Jeff Rush, who is winding up his residency in radiology at a San Diego hospital. Jeff has been named chief of radiology at a new hospital near his home, which should give him more time with Loni and their three children.

If my practice carries me across state to Newport, N. H., maybe Jon Auten and I can get together. Jon informs us he was married last year and is now practicing law.

Oli Larmi skipped Reunion but did manage to catch Alumni College last year, and calls it a fine educational experience. Oli now has a Ph.D. from Penn, which he received following a dissertation on Plato's epistemology (maybe we all should attend the Alumni College rather than reunions). The Larmis are located five minutes off Route 80 in Orangeville, Pa., where Tina operates an antique shop, and where they look forward to classmates' visits.

Captain Geoff Smith, on active Air Force duty since graduation, has taken command of the headquarters squadron of the Ist Composite Support Group at Andrews Air Force Base, Md. He earned an M.A. in International Relations in 1968 at the University of Southern California and appeared several years ago in these pages when he received his second Air Force commendation while stationed at U-Tapao Airfield in Thailand.

When asked for his class dues last year, Fairleigh Lassky responded by telling John Schiffman that news of the "freeze" had not yet reached N. H. The note came from Louisville. Drop a note, Fairleigh.

Manning Smith was last heard from in Philadelphia, where he punches the clock for Ernst & Ernst in the management consulting department. Another in the proud tradition of Ernst & Ernst is PaulDuncan, who toils in the national office in Cleveland. Daughter Elizabeth is the latest addition to the Duncan family, born last October.

For those of you who are still wondering. Yes, there are different shapes on campus this fall, and no, Eleazar did not turn over.

It's autumn and beautiful in New Hampshire, and we already miss all who were here in June. Keep in touch.
