Most of this month's column is based on responses to a mid-December news solicitation sent to classmates whose names had not appeared herein since their last change of address. The responses thus far will fill both this and March's columns. Therefore I'll say thanks now to all respondents and hold up sending out my usual acknowledgment postcards until I know in which month's column your news will appear. But keep those reply postcards rolling in!

Two of the responses reported herein were, I assume inadvertently, unsigned. By diligent sleuthing, I believe I have properly identified them. If not, I assume that I shall hear about it in no uncertain terms.

Dick Halloran anticipated my mailing with a letter received just after my January copy went in the mail. He is now Northeast Asia correspondent for "The Washington Post," covering Korea, Japan, Okinawa, and Taiwan from a home base in Tokyo. While his territory may not attract as much attention as Vietnam or China, Dick comments that "Korea is a fascinating study of how a small nation is trying to pull itself together, and the vast differences between Japan and the West never cease to amaze."

Wife Carol teaches at an international school. Son Christopher, 8, is taking judo lessons after school; Laurie-chan, 7, "can write Japanese better than her father; and Catherine, 3, just goes her merry way." The Hallorans expect to be back in the States on leave this summer.

He and wife Lori have four children: Michael, 14; Peter, 11; Christopher, 8; and Kathryn, 4.

An Engineer MOS, he is now director of programming, Northern I Corps with Naval Support Activity, Danang, Vietnam. His address is Williamsburg, Va., so I assume Drew is working out of Norfolk. He and wife "Momo" have two children, Daniel, 13, and Peggy 11.

Bob Coon is professor of French and chairman of the Modern Language Department at Sweet Briar College in Virginia. He has four children: Elizabeth, 11; Chris, 9; Jennifer, 7; and Emily, 5. On the side, Bob sings in folk song recitals and works "for integration and against the Vietnam war."

While "essentially a free lance journalist," Frank Johnson is Foreign Editor for the American Security Council and writes newsletters and radio scripts for them on various Cold War topics. He, wife Sally, daughter Kimberly, 9, and sons William, 5, and Scott, not yet one, live in Bethesda, Md.

Down in Jacksonville, Fla., Bob Lyon is a Job Corps Opportunity Specialist working for the Florida Industrial Commission doing liaison between the OEO and 17 Florida counties. He is also chairman of Social Concerns for Human Relations and Economic Affairs of Jacksonville's Southside Methodist Church. He and wife Lillian have two daughters: Cheryl, 15; and Cathy, 13.
