Dartmouth's varsity track team ended its most successful dual meet season in some time with a 96-68 victory over Springfield College to move its summary to 4-1. Prior to this the Indian trackmen had bested Boston College 89-51, before falling victim to Harvard. Against Brown, Chet Halka added frosting to a 91-63 win with a new record in the high jump at 6-9. Prime reason for the track resurgence has been increased depth and talent in the weight events. Sophomores Frank Howard and George Remmer have been an impressive pair in the hammer and discus throws. Seniors Bill Bridge and Captain Steve Atwood have directed some remarkable relay event victories, with the able assistance of sophomore DeWitt Davies. Junior Don Johnsen, warming up for the ICAAAA's, recorded his career best in the long jump at 23-5 against Springfield. Halka, who placed second in the Heptagonals at 6-8, currently ranks second among potential ICAAAA competitors, and has his sights set on a possible new College mark.
