We've got to keep it short this month because of the special articles in the issue. It's a good thing, because I still have to work on my income tax. Whether or not I make reunion depends upon how much money I get back from Uncle Sam! I wonder how much LBJ had to pay on his own surcharge?
Sig Ginsburg wrote recently that he ana Judi became the proud parents of Beth Alison last Election Day! In addition to his work as assistant city administrator down in New York, Sig is also director of the New York City Urban Fellowship Program which will bring to New York twenty outstanding students selected on a national basis for a full academic year's work at the highest levels of New York City government. I hope you can save up some special snow and garbage for those who work in the sanitation department to deal with, Sig.
Alan and Judy Hurlbut are now living in Rhode St. Genese, Belgium. They left Denmark last year in February so Alan could assume responsibility for running Ford Motor Company's financial and budgetary control system in the marketing operations for agricultural and industrial equipment in 14 European countries. Alan, Judy, Keith and Eric have had some great opportunities to see Europe and vacation in various southern climes. Sounds good to me. The snow is just getting down to my window sills!
Cary Stiff is now a staff writer for "Empire Magazine," the Sunday magazine of the Denver Post. Mike Stern was recently promoted to assistant vice president in Corporate Finance by the E. F. Hutton Company, Inc. And we still have men over in the battle zone - Major John Cocco is at Tan Son Nhut Air Base working at the 377th USAF Dispensary.
Some of us here go down to the track at noontime and run around to stay in shape. The flea in a windstorm proportions of this great feat are made especially apparent when I read of Rudy LaRusso still running up and down the basketball court and averaging twenty points a game for the San Francisco Warriors. I'd hate to think of how many miles he runs every time he plays - and, at quite a different pace! Out in the mud belt, at the University of California at Santa Cruz, Dr. Dick Peterson, assistant professor of Biology, was named principal investigator in a two-year research project to study the biology of the California sea otter. It is a specially funded project which will concentrate on the 400-700 sea otters in the Big Sur region south of Monterey. Try some of Steinbeck's beer milk shakes while you're at it, Dick. Some of you may have seen some of Dick's recent work involving sea lions on the TV series, "Wild Kingdom," back in January.
J uilUtti J . Dick Dunnells is joining the Nixon administration as a special assistant to the Undersecretary in George Romney's Department of Housing and Urban Development. Before his appointment he was an attorney with the firm of Hogan pid Hartson in Washington. After Dartmouth, he earned his law degree from the University of Virginia Law School. He and his wife Geni and Daran Lynn and Dana Ann live at 56.10 Oakmont Ave., Bethesda, Md.
Lawyer Shelly London has been admitted to practice before the U. S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Shelly is also quite active in Dartmouth club affairs down in Washington and has been instrumental in involving the club in a special program for opening up educational horizons for ghetto youngsters in the District. Down in New Jersey, George Drawbaugh, currently with Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company, has been active as chairman of the YMCA campaign for a new facility to be erected in Red Bank. I hope you have all the money raised by now, George. Over at Mary Hitchcock Hospital, back in January, Dr. John Remmers could be seen beating a path to the maternity ward to see his new daughter, Carolyn, born January 17. For a while the nurses thought there was a new doctor in pediatrics!
That's all there is. Don't save all your news for Reunion. I still have two issues to go for this column. And, remember, those of you who want to get top governmental experience - now is the time to let nominating committee chairman Al Munro know about your desire to serve in our class hierarchy!
