This will be the last column of this academic year so we will try to clean up all past news and empty the mailbag. Contemplating the passage of time and reflecting upon the events of the past nine months makes one realize that feelings have been rising to a fever pitch on the undergraduate campus and have just now culminated in the events described on earlier pages of this MAGAZINE. I am very pleased, personally, to be connected with a graduate school at Dartmouth. Tuck students have involved themselves with the issues, though at a distance. They have debated various points of view, both formally and informally, and have polled on their positions. In general, they have acted conservatively and to my knowledge, neither Tuck faculty nor students have been directly involved in the undergraduate confrontation.

Dean John W. Hennessey Jr. has been named a member of the Board of Visitors for the Graduate School of Business of the University of Pittsburgh. It is always a great honor for one graduate school Dean to be recognized by another graduate school, and we are particularly proud of this honor accorded to Dean Hennessey.

John O. Parker T'59 has been named executive vice president of Putnam Advisory Company, Inc., the investment advisory arm of Putnam Management Company. Prior to joining Putnam, John was sales manager for Smith, Barney in Boston and had also been associated with the Old Colony Trust Company.

William J. Cross T'51 of Somers, N. Y., has been appointed a member of the West-Chester Advisory Committee of the Manhattan Savings Bank. Bill is an assistant treasurer of The Reader's Digest Association, Inc. Geoffrey W. Hands T'60 has been transferred from the Chicago office of McKinsey & Company to its Melbourne, Australia office. When he arrives "Down Under" he will be active in counseling clients on marketing problems, profit improvement programs, and general management organization. Geoff has been with McKinsey since 1965, following several years with Arthur Andersen & Co. John B. Zellers T'29, assistant vice president of People's Savings Bank and manager of its Southport office, has been appointed to the advisory committee of the City Trust Company. John is very ac- tive in a variety of affairs in the Bridgeport, Conn., area.

Edward Spurgeon T'54 has been ap- pointed manager of manufacturing for the new Control Systems Business Section at General Electric. Having joined GE in 1957, Ed has held a variety of positions in manufacturing, engineering and business systems. Whit Marchand T'60 has been named assistant vice president at Bankers Trust Company in New York. Whit joined Bankers Trust following two years in the U. S. Army. Warren A. Stebbins Jr. T'68 has received a certificate of honorable mention from the Massachusetts Society of C.P.A.'s for attaining a high mark in the recent C.P.A. certification. Warren is a staff accountant with Lybrand, Ross Bros, and Montgomery in Boston.

Charles H. Baldwin T'67 has achieved honors in the life insurance industry in his first year as a full-time associate of the National Life Insurance Company of Vermont. Chuck has won membership in the firm's President's Club, thus becoming eligible for the Club's educational conference in the Bahamas this spring. That's pretty fast work, even for a Tuck man.

John H. Brinckerhoff T'57 has been appointed vice president for advertising of the newly created Deltakos Division of J. Walter Thompson Company. Deltakos specializes in communications for science and medicine. Last item in the mailbag concerns Winthrop C. Giles T'59 who has been elected second vice president, marketing, of John Hancock Distributors, Inc., the underwriter for John Hancock mutual funds. Win has been with John Hancock since 1959.

By the time you read this column the Tuck School Alumni Fund Drive will be in its last month. Results to date show the Fund ahead of last year and this is extremely gratifying to everyone concerned with this effort. Borrowing some expertise from their Dartmouth Fund counterparts, the Tuck Class Agents are coming up with some surprises and results of their own.

Our congratulations and sincere best wishes for a whirlwind finish go to Chairman Bill Tetrick T'39 and his hard-working Class Agents, Dave Lubrano T'56, Bill Lynch T'57, Dave Donahue T'58, Paul McGourty T'59, Alan Pesky T'60, Bill Stoloski T'63, Dave Jung T'64, Pete Kalustian T'6s, Gerry Hayes T'66, Pete Gillespie T'67, and Paul Castle T'68.

Well, that does it for this year. It's been a busy and interesting one. Many alumni, absent from Hanover for several years, returned for Alumni Seminars, while others returned for various Associates Conference programs. It is always good to see Tuck alumni in town — we hope that many more of you will visit during the summer.
