It could be the fashion or the vogue that bits of news fall fewer when the leaves begin to fall, but every message is a treasure and makes for real pleasure. The Rev. JoeHammond, avid football fan, has a new address (see Directory). Art Wyman is now firmly established as a citizen of New Hampshire (see Directory) but will make a break toward his old address when snow flies. Bert Thwing has a dilemma. Having lived through a summer of insufferable heat in his home town, he will be visiting in California by the time this goes to press, and condemning the climate, of course. That's what he says. Porter Lowe writes that his wife, Hazel, has spent three years in hospitals and rest homes, two of them with a broken hip, and other complications. FopChesley hears from Art Soule that Art is again in the hospital, and making some progress to recovery.
Elizabeth (Mrs. Charles T.) Safford writes a charming approval of the Directory. Florence (Mrs. Charles C.) Severance, likewise, finds the Directory brings up memories. She rejoices in the return of her grandson, named after our Charlie, from Vietnam, after two years' service. Esther (Mrs. Gordon) Blanchard supplies the information about Dorothy Symmes, who entered a hospital August 25 and has had major surgery. She is now reported improved and will have been moved to her Apartment Tamalpais.
In conclusion and in sorrow, we announce the death of Ethel (Mrs. George F.)Baine on June 20, 1970 in Marlboro, Mass. Ethel had traveled to attend the graduation exercises of her grandson when she had a sudden and massive stroke. The sympathy of the Class is extended to her son George, who furnished the information, his brother, and the other members of her family.
