What a relief! We have just finished the Christmas season at our house; the tree is down (many needles still remain), lights and ornaments put away (many broken in the act of putting away), the kids are eagerly looking forward to the resumption of school tomorrow (not half as much as their mother), and the last open house, etc., attended (always a pleasure).

Two things related to Dartmouth happen at our house every year at this time. The first is that Ellen comments as I walk in the door one evening, "We received the Oakes' family card today. That oldest boy looks more like Abner every day." That's one comment that is made without fail annually. The second happening is the Keare Newsletter which is always long (delightfully so), different (let's face it - they live differently), and most important, interesting and eagerly anticipated. After a trip to the States for Christmas via India, Iran, and Switzerland, they plan to spend the better part of one more year in Malaysia before possibly moving on to another assignment in South America.

A questionnaire was sent by the college to all alumni who made a contribution to the 1968 Alumni Fund Drive but did not give in 1969. The format of the questionnaire was multiple choice reasons why a person did not give, plus space for additional comments or reasons. The results of those returned from members of the Class of 1956 were as follows:

Oversight - only answer — 1, more than one answer - 4; Economic Conditions — only answer - 2; more than one answer 3; R.O.T.C. - more than one answer — 11; Afro-American Commitments - more than one answer - 4; Parkhurst Hall incident - more than one answer - 4; Coeducation - more than one answer - 3; 1968 Valedictory Speech - more than one answer - 3; Other miscellaneous reasons - 6.
