'64's southernmost resident in the United States wrote last week to bring us up-to-date on his activities. Jim Harris, aided by his charming wife, Pat, finished Vanderbilt Law School in 1967. After a short stint in California, Jim entered the Navy as a JAG officer and began a term of hazardous duty in Manhattan. While there, he saw MikeGoldenberg occasionally, and tipped a frequent lager pitcher with Warren Cass, who is reportedly "doing big things on the Street" for E. F. Hutton. Jim notes that Warren and his wife, Hope, are expecting their first child at the end of the summer. Jim is still in the Navy, and is now the legal officer at the Key West Naval Station. Jim and Pat have a daughter and are expecting a second child in June. After his stint with the Navy is over next year, Jim plans to practice law in Nashville. Before too long, I'm going to take him up on his fishing invitation.

Exeter's premonition of Holden Caufield, the inimitable hockey great and general allaround good guy, Paul O'Connell, is reportedly a candidate for re-election to the Planning Board of Southboro, Mass. Paul is now practicing law with the firm of Mirick, O'Connell, DeMallie & Lougee in Worcester.

Straight-shooting Jim Zurn, aptly named for his prowess on Dartmouth's rifle team as well as his business dealings, has been named a director of Zurn Industries Inc., a manufacturer of pollution-control, steam and power equipment.

Barry Schultz dropped me a nice note recently, and confirmed the rumor that he has developed an avid interest in urology. It all began in November of 1968 when Barry married the former Miss Linda Kidney, a lovely Buffalo nurse. He is now a resident in general surgery at Reading Hospital in Pennsylvania. In July, Barry will go on active duty with the Navy, and will eventually assume a residency in urology at the University of Connecticut hospitals in Hartford. Parenthetically, Barry, when you're in Hartford you might wish to undertake some field research with Geof Brod, a Hartford actuary, who was notorious for his limited endurance in the marathon "Walestails" tournaments of 1963.

Speaking of Hartford, Tom Clark has recently joined the law firm of Gilman and Marks there. After Cornell Law School, Tom did a stint as a management trainee with Chubb and Sons in New York.

Jay Evans rates a cheer from all of us again. He was recently elected president of the Graduate Business Association at Columbia, where he will finish an M.B.A. in June.

An old friend who asked to remain anonymous called recently to bring us upto-date on the whereabouts of a number of '64's. He reported that Mike Bailin is now teaching at Dartmouth. Last we'd heard before this, "Elg" was finishing a law degree and studying city planning simultaneously. "Slats" Sloane is reportedly in the final throes of a Ph.D. program in Spanish at Johns Hopkins, and by now can probably tell his famous "Bishop of Barcelona" story in several dialects. I wish Slats would drop down here some time and give me some tips on how to bet at Jai Alai.

Bill Barnett, says my source, is now a hopelessly successful fascist capitalist, and Mark Kushner is in the thick of corporate life on Wall Street. Mickey Weber now has three children, and reportedly "hasn't changed a bit." Dick Mandell and his wife, Jane, have returned from a 6-month jaunt in Europe. Dick is now working for Mayor Lindsay's crack City Planning Commission, and rumors that he is a secret agent for El Fatah are totally false. Howie Danzig and Ken Lapine are reportedly practicing law in New York. Finally, my source requested that this month's '64 Career Spotlight shine admiringly on Bob LeBesch, who has answered the voice crying in the wilderness and is passionately engaged in research at the Alaskan Moose Research Center.

The '64 Nugget Niche finds Ernie Notar doing graduate work at Berkeley. NeilLancefield is with the firm of Arthur Young & Co., and lives in Sausalito, Calif. DickNeely is practicing law in West Virginia, and Steve Caldwell is with the research staff of the Urban Institute in Washington. Ed Jaeger is a marketing representative with Engle and Hambright, Inc., insurance and real estate agents in Pennsylvania. FrankMyers lives in Sunnyvale, Calif., and is international sales manager for Hewlett-Packard, manufacturers of electronics instruments.

That's it for now. Keep those cards, letters, and nostalgic telephone calls flowing in with news about yourself or other classmates. Later.
