Al Gruber's wife dropped me a note to announce the birth of Jonathan Scott Gruber on April 15. Jon is Al's second son. Alan has been appointed assistant to the president of Mohegan Community College which will open its southeastern Connecticut doors in September. Al will be helping to recruit students and organize administrative operations of the College.

John English's mother writes that John completed a stint with the Navy (which included fourteen months in Vietnam in command of a surfboat) and is now exploring the delights of Australia. Tony Thompson is with him, she reports, and there's no telling when we can expect them back from "down under."

Ed Miller writes that he is presently a captain in the Marine Corps serving as an instructor pilot in the Naval Air Advanced Training Command in Beeville, Texas. Ed is married to the former Edith Kirb (Smith '67) and plans to enter graduate school in business next September.

Karl Winkler is now a civilian, and works in Rockford, Ill., as an associate in the law firm of Roszkowski and Paddock. After six weeks in practice, Karl proudly notes that his main accomplishments have been to talk five women out of divorces.

Stan Roman writes that he is presently a first-year resident at Columbia Harlem Hospital Center. His field is internal medicine. Stan is also involved in an attempt to improve the health agencies within Harlem's black community. Right on, Stan.

Fred Mock writes that he is now working for San Francisco's Department of City Planning. He sees Staff Keegin, Al Pierce, and Perry Butler occasionally. I hereby announce my intention to pay the 'Frisco boys a visit this summer, merely to do field research on sixty-fourdom on the West Coast and to sample the delights of that now famous watering hole, Perry's. (Besides, I owe the "Owl" a pack of Kools which 1 borrowed during finals in December, 1960!)

"Hop" Potter and his lovely wife, Pam, now have a son and a daughter. Hop is a co-pilot with Eastern, and is flying Boeing 727 Whisperjets. When he's not doing the "Wings of Man" thing, Hop is furtively engaged in battle with his crabgrass in Stamford, Conn.

Ed Perry writes that he has finished a Ph.D. at Case Western Reserve University, and is now on a postdoctoral fellowship in geochemistry at Yale. Bill Thomison, according to Ed, was about to complete his Ph.D. in physics at Yale, and start a postdoctoral at Cornell and Howie Day is in hot pursuit of a Ph.D. in geology at Brown.

Ehney Camp proudly informed us of the birth of Ehney A. Camp IV in August. There's still hope for Birmingham!

Ward Ives is presently an assistant trust officer in the personal trust division of Manufacturer's Hanover in New York. Last December, Ward married the former Marjorie Lashine. Marjorie buys television advertising time for Young and Rubicam in New York.

Joe Rob has written that he has moved to Boulder, Colo. After graduation from Cornell Law School, Joe went to work for Metropolitan Life. Last November, Joe married the former Mary Ann Thacher of Hornell, N. Y.

Duncan Holthausen was promoted to assistant professor of "Economics at St. Lawrence University. He and his wife, Ginny, and their year-old son, Peter, spent most of last summer camping in the Northeast. Duncan plans to return to the academic grind to work for a Ph.D. in September.

A "wah-hoo-wah" for Roger Hull, whose article, "The Paris Accords," was published in the January, 1970 issue of the "American Bar Association Journal."

Frank Hannah is spending a year with his family in Rennes, France. Frank now has two sons (Gordon and Stewart) and should be returning to America this summer.

Ed Brazil finished third in Men's Jumping in the Eastern Regional Waterski Championships last summer. Ed is working as an engineer in the development department of Cone Automatic in Windsor, Vt., manufacturers of automatic lathes.

Terry McCoy and his wife, Martha, have finished two years of Peace Corps duty in Western Samoa, where Terry worked in the attorney general's office and Martha taught biology.

G. Brewster Cole now holds a C.P.C.U. insurance designation, and is working as an account executive with Johnson and Higgins on Wall Street, an international insurance brokerage firm.

Chester Ridgway writes that he is presently doing his residency in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital. He married a Colorado girl who is also a physician. She will be doing a residency in pediatrics at Mass. General next year. Chet reports that he has not seen Charlie Greer recently, but reports that Charlie, his wife, Sue, and their son, Jason are living in Seattle where Charlie is working toward a Ph.D. in Southeast Asian Geography. Chet also reports that Mike Bender is now married, and living in Denver. Chet reports that after graduation from Colorado Law School, Mike became very active in Denver as a public defender. Finally, Chet tells us that Tom Yahn has been organizing and leading a community action program on New York City's East Side since graduation.

My sources in New York tell me that Brad Evans, who survived countless missions in the hostile skies of Vietnam, has finally succumbed to the anti-aircraft batteries of his married friends, and is even now in the throes of engagement to a fine honey.

This month's '64 career spotlight shines brightly upon Dick Couch, whose brilliant engineering efforts promise an exciting breakthrough in mankind's struggle to preserve and beautify his environment. Rumor has it that Dick is hot on the trail of a revolutionary process that will turn America's mountains of unsightly automobile wrecks and empty beer cans into neat piles of rusty razor blades. 'Atta way, Dick!

Well, that's about it for the column until September. Don't forget to speed your shekels into the current Alumni Fund. The College needs and deserves our full support.

I hope you all have a rewarding summer. Please don't forget to drop me a card or letter from time to time to keep the class posted as to your activities. Peace.
