Dartmouth's tennis team finished with a 9-9 record while the Indians had a 1-7 record in lacrosse.... Justin Stanley, who also is captain-elect of squash, will be captain of the 1971 tennis team. ... Captain Geoff Dyer was placed sixth in the final EITA rankings and the tandem of Dyer and Jock McKernan was third in the EITA doubles ratings.... Mike Diaz, from Pelham, N.Y., is captain-elect of lacrosse. Other spring captains include Tim Hannigan (Scarsdale, N.Y.) in baseball and Dinneen (Washington, D.C.) and decathlon standout Bob Brown (Massapequa, N.Y.) in track.... Brown is also the stellar football end.... The recipients of awards for athletic achievement this spring include: Bruce Saylor (West Caldwell, N.J.) - Kenneth Archibald Athletic Prize (best all-round athlete), James Cooke Trophy (outstanding baseball player), and co-recipient of The Dartmouth Cup with DeWitt Davies and diver Mike Brown (Denver, Colo.); Bob Mlakar (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) - Alfred Watson Trophy (outstanding athlete of year); Bill Koenig (Salem, Ore.) - Timothy Wright Ellis Award, presented by Class of 1955; Bill Johnson (Skaneateles, N.Y.) - Tom Dent Memorial Award (excellence in lacrosse); Geoff Dyer (Winnipeg, Man.) - Occom Bowl, initiated this year through gift of Mrs. Lucy P. Gregg of Hanover, for improvement in tennis and mature attitude for the game; Mark Hamilton (Scarsdale, N.Y.) - Paul Harmon Trophy (improvement in distance running); Sandy Ferguson (Pittsburgh, Pa.) - Thaddeus Seymour Award (excellence in rowing); Dee Balle '73 (Ely, Nev.) - Tirrell Physical Improvement Prize.

Lacrosse defenseman Trip Dorkey (Ardmore, Pa.) was an All-Ivy second team pick and also competed in the annual North-South all-star game.... Jim Murphy, a June graduate of Providence College, is the new assistant director of sports information, replacing Ken Wildes who is now assistant director of public relations at Springfield College.... Sophomore Chris Carstensen (Haddonfield, N.J.) and diver Mike Brown head six Dartmouth selections to All-America swim team.... Also named were Al Rheem (Denver, Colo.), Stu Vance (Fort Myers, Fla.), Jim Gottschalk (Bedford, Ohio), and Fred Severance (Manchester, N.H.)... Tony Lupien is the NCAA District One Coach of the Year.... Student representatives to the DCAC for 1970-71 are football player Tom Price (South Point, Ohio), hockey manager Dick Donohue (Wellesley Hills, Mass.), and student intramural director Mike Salsbury (Cincinnati, Ohio).
