As the column resumes, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who gave to the Alumni Fund. The Class outdid itself this time, contributing a total of $31,385, to beat the goal of $30,000. The prime mover behind this achievement is Head Class Agent George Southwick who, with his hard-working team of classmates, has brought to the College a total of $59,263 during the past two Fund drives. George an accountant with Arthur Young & Company in Boston, has recently taken on the responsibility of cultivating all of his company's small business clients and it is certainly understandable that he is now stepping down as head class agent. Dick Canton will pick up the ball and you can be sure that Dick will run with it. Congratulations. George for a job well done!

Social Chairman Don White has been busy planning Class get-togethers for the football season. Dick Canton will again organize a pregame tailgate party for the Harvard game in Cambridge on October 27. Rumor has it that Dave Cook and a nucleus of the Indian chiefs will serenade the assembled classmates. For the Yake game in Hanover on November 3, a block of rooms has been reserved at the Lake Morey Club where, incidentally, the Yale football team will be staving. Full details on both affairs will be mailed to you shortly.

Two classmates have recently been elected to important positions in the College's alumni affairs. Joe Stevenson has been elected to a one vear term as president of the Dartmouth Alumni Council, the body which runs the affairs of the College's 36,000 alumni. Joe has served the College in the past as class president, head class agent for the Alumni Fund, secretary of the Dartmouth Club of Japan, and was on the board of governors of the Dartmouth Club of Westchester County, N.Y. Joe is a group product manager for Chesebrough-Pond's, Inc., in Greenwich, Conn.

Tom Keller has been elected to a two-year term on the same Council for Region IV, the midwestern states. Tom earned his LL.B. degree from New York University's School of Law in 1960 and is currently a general partner in the Minneapolis law firm of O'Connor, Green, Thomas, Walters and Kelly.

Larry Silberman, formerly Under Secretary of Labor, is now a member of the Washington law firm of Steptoe & Johnson.

Jim Howe has been promoted from assistant professor to associate professor of English at the University of Vermont in Burlington. Professor Howe earned his M.A. degree at N.Y.U. and joined the Vermont faculty in 1967.

Dr. Willis Brooks, a member of the history department at the University of North Carolina, recently received the university's coveted $1,000 Tanner Award for "excellent and inspirational teaching" at the undergraduate level. Willis focuses his research and teaching on the social, intellectual, and military history of Russia during the 19th century.. A participant in the U.S.U.S.S.R. academic exchange program, Willis conducted his doctoral dissertation research at Moscow State University. Willis has been a member of the UNO faculty since 1968. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Stanford University.

Dick Streeter is a busy man up in Rothesay, New Brunswick, Canada, just outside of Saint John. Dick is president of Rainbow Boat Services, Ltd., in Saint John, and vice president of East Coast Plastics Ltd., in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In addition to his business commitments, he is deputy mayor of Rothesay and a director of both the Rothesay Yacht Club and the local sports arena. Dick earned his MBA degree at the University of Western Ontario and was involved in banking and investments until 1970. Dick plans to attend our 20th Reunion in 1976.

Hope to see you during the football season.
