April Fool! In order to provide a few lines for '4B the class secretary will devote a goodly portion of these notes to himself, his family and their activities. Read on and suffer!
A 1 Cassin has been named general sales manager for Parker Hannifin Corporation's cylinder division in Des Plaines, Ill. He will assume responsibility for sales of all cylinder division product lines. A 1 has been with the company since 1966 and most recently was product sales manager for industrial cylinders. He and Charlotte have six children and live in Carpentersville, Ill.
Warren Daniell has been appointed manager of the engineering division of Anderson-Nichols & Co. Inc. of Boston. The company does consulting engineering and Warren, a vice president, will be responsible for all company activities in architectural engineering, civil and environmental design fields. There was an interesting write-up in "The Washington Post" recently about Dean Rathbun. Dean has his own firm, Dean Rathbun Associates, located in Middleburg. Va., and Chevy Chase, Md., which is listed as "Architects-Realtors- Builders." He custom builds houses and has been developing "Wickford," located in Washington, D. C. This area, where the architecture is "traditional," has been developed over a period of twenty years, a pace that would shock most modern builders. Dean feels that the day of the custom house is dying because of competition offered by the big developer. However, as the article points out he is alive and doing well in spite of this. His hobby is horses, he and Marjorie have three daughters, ages sixteen, fifteen and nine, and live in "On the Rocks" Farm in Middleburg.
While in New York recently I had the pleasure of lunching with John VanRaalte. John Jr., at Exeter, is doing well and old dad nojonger makes an attempt to keep up with him on the skiis.
Now for the bottom of the barrel (no reflection on others mentioned in these notes). Sam Wilkinson is senior vice president and senior trust officer at First- Manufacturers National Bank in Lewiston, Me. This title was the direct result of the fact that he is prematurely gray and it was a lot cheaper than giving him a raise. It was not, as has been speculated, a step taken to demonstrate that a corporation has a sense of humor. Sam is directly responsible for the Trust and Investment Division and received full credit for the 1970 fifteen per cent increase in income and the thirty per cent increase in expenses. He is married to Jean, a devoted Wellesley alumna, a loving mother, and an active wife. Four lovely daughters, ages twelve to four, grace their household located in Cumberland Foreside, a ghetto area outside of Portland, Me. In between bird hunting, fishing, sailing, skiing, and working on his log cabin, located on Moshier's Island, in Casco Bay, he serves as President of the Dartmouth Club of Maine, President of the Center for Community Dental Health, and makes an occasional trip to the bank.
If enough news comes in during the next few weeks you will be spared further details.
