Summer has passed all too quickly and I find myself writing this my first monthly column. At the outset I will apologize for my lack of literary ability and hope that an abundance of news from you will limit the need for ramblings from me.

A good deal of news has accumulated over the summer. Herb Isaacson has become a partner in the Hartford, Conn., law firm of Gilman and Marks. Herb is a member of the American Bar and Connecticut Bar Associations and is on the board of editors of the Connecticut Bar Journal.

Dave Pratt has been appointed assistant sales manager of the Tallman plant of International Paper Company's container division in Whippany, N. J.

Joe Jacquet's wife Judy writes that Joe is employed by Raytheon in Andover, Mass., and that they are living in Hudson, N. H., with their three boys, ages, six, three, and two years.

Bob Dewey, a former Navy flier, has joined LTV Aero Space Corporation as a test pilot. While in the Navy Bob was project officer for the A-7A during its Board of Inspection and Survey tests.

After a valiant, but unsuccessful attempt to get in touch with him prior to reunion, we have word of a change in locale for Larry Weltin. Larry was formerly account supervisor for the Henderson Advertising Agency of Greenville, S. C. He has been named office manager of Henderson's new office in Atlanta. We hope Larry can contribute a little of that southern creativity to our new executive committee.

Dr. Bob Luyster was married June 1 to Anadine J. Rhodes of Manchester, Conn. Bob is assistant professor of philosophy at the University of Connecticut in Storrs. He was previously on the faculty at Northern Illinois University. Anadine is a senior at the University of Connecticut... no mention is made of her philosophy grade. This spring Bob delivered a series of lectures titled "The Mystical Spirit of the Orient," at the University's Torrington branch.

We've received a change of address from Andy Blau. Andy and family have moved to 90 Dawes Avenue in Pittsfield, Mass. 01201.

Colin Norberg, previously an IRS man, has gone into the general practice of law in Meredith, N. H., under the firm name, Ramsey and Norberg.

Puffy Stoddart won't be relaxing too much following his outstanding tenure as our president. In addition to his highly diverse responsibilities as vice president of Cleveland's Shaker Savings Association, he has been elected to the Cleveland Heights City Council. Puffy had been chairman of the Mayor's Advisory Commission on Transportation and Planning. We expect greater things yet.

We have another coming politician in Frank Blatz. Frank is running for mayor of Plainfield, N. J.

Al Greener has been named a marketing product manager for Becton, Dickinson and Company. Before joining Becton, Al served as product manager for Pharmaseal Laboratories in Glendale, Calif. Al, his wife and their three children are living in Ridgewood, N. J.

John and Utta Fisk wrote from Paris not too long ago. "Paris calmed down after a very violent and unpleasant time, especially as we live right in this area ... we left for Stuttgart the end of May to 'recover!' " Their seven-month-old son, Alexandre, was baptized in Salzburg on September 2. The Fisks make their home at 55 Rue de Lille, Paris VII.

After being so fired up at reunion by those two excellent panels, I've seen how easy it is to settle back in front of my T.V. set, watching the problems of our society and doing nothing about them. A radio plea for building materials for a teen "drop-in" center in Roxbury stirred memories of those panels and I found it relatively easy collecting materials from customers, friends and my own business associates for this worthwhile cause. The effort was small, but the personal satisfaction was great. I'd like to hear what others of you are doing along these lines. I'm sure it would serve as an inspiration to others. The spirit of that reunion should be kept alive. It doesn't take much to get the ball rolling ... enough preaching from me.

The football season is with us and I'm looking for another strong Blackman team. Jeff Strayer is working with the class of '57 on a cocktail party after the Harvard game. After that small but successful '58 party last year, we felt a combine would be worthwhile. This year the party will be at the Hotel Continental immediately after the game. There will be a nominal admission charge.

I hope we'll see many of yon this fall at the football games and I look forward to hearing from many others. Tooting my own horn was not my cup of tea either, but that warm and friendly feeling at reunion proved that we're all interested in what others are doing and thinking. I'll try, with your help, to make this column a link between reunions.
