This is being written just as the Yale Game broadcast is finishing—so, I feel somewhat like the club president of the local college alumnae group of which my wife is a member. The president at a meeting, in her introductory remarks of a famous musical conductor, actually said, ". . . but our lack of members (referring to the meager attendance) will be more than made up for by our lack of enthusiasm!"

Of interest will be the names of '48 sons and daughter in Hanover at this time. We have 32 undergraduates representing '48: The student is listed with his father's name in parenthesis immediately following: Class of 1973—Michael F. Hansen (Donald F.), Paul H. Johnson III (Paul H. Jr.), John B. Mack Jr. (John B.), Lawrence C. Pedersen Jr. (Lawrence C.), David R. Smith (Morton A.,), Joseph C. Smith (Joseph C.), Peter J. Smith Jr. (Peter J.); Class of 1974—Timothy W. Baker (Walton A.), Donald E. Casey Jr. (Donald E.), Stephen C. Friend (Walter A.), Austin H. Gedney III (Austin H. Jr.), Walter S. Gustafson (John A.), Francis P. Hummel (Francis E.), Randall H. Leisure (Jack R.), Paul F. Twomey (Paul P.), Richard W. Winkler (Gordon I.); Class of 1975—Walter F. Evans II (Carlton F.), Lawrence P. Johnson (Philip M.), Hal H. Macartney (lan), Steven H. Obrenski (Ferdinand S.), Gilbert F. Palmer (Russell C.), James A. Reynolds (Robert R.), Steven M. Shea (Harold P.), Johnathan H. Zins (Jerome H.), William V. A. Zorn (Roger V. A.); Class of 1976—Richard Mark Elliott (Burton), Paul A. Hoisington (Barney D.), Susan H. McAllister (A. H.), Bruce A. Richard (Raymond F.), Thomas C. Ruegger (Philip T. Jr.), Norman W. Saunders (Norman W.).

Loren Spademan has been named general manager of Hudson's Franklin Park Mall Store. Loren has been with J. C. Hudson Co. since 1949 in various capacities. He and Sue have three children, ages 14 to 17 and live in Birmingham, Mich.

Peter Foster was good to send along some notes which were included with checks paying class dues.

He had received a nice leter from PatMcAllister, Mac's widow, regarding her activities. With Mac's brother Donald '46, brother Harold '40, father '13, and grandfather '88, it seems especially appropriate and fitting that daughter Susan should be Class of '76. I think Susan will be the first '48 daughter to receive her degree from Dartmouth, and we hope that Pat and the rest of the family will join us for reunion next year.

Dr. Jake Turner reports he is busy with thoracic and cardiovascular surgery in Youngstown, Ohio. He and Carolyn live in Hubbard, Ohio, and are leading a full family life with eight children, two dogs, one cat, and three horses. Jake spends his leisure time sailing and playing tennis. We must have enough tennis players to have a tournament at our 25th reunion.

Larry Pedersen should be among those in Hanover next June with son Carl graduating at that time. Larry reports having seen Bob Tracy recently. Bob has a niece in the freshman class at Dartmouth.

Carl Ward reports that the end is in sight! Son Dale will graduate from the University of Connecticut and daughter Martha will graduate from Bates College, both next spring. This news makes those of us who have all of the college expense ahead of us feel even worse than before.

Remember June of '73!
