A welcome letter arrived recently from Bob and Althea Shirley. It seems that they recently attended the Cambridge Series" evening at the Boston Symphony and heard a fine performance which included Roerem's "Lion," Elgar's "Enigma-Variations," and Dvorak's New World Symphony."

Reports Bob: "The noteworthy feature of the evening was the superb performance of a fine young guest conductor, Erich AirWick" Kunzel, '57. This was his second appearance this year [1971] with the Boston Symphony, and to say the least he was very well received. He used no score or podium at all and conducted in a very intense active manner. At the end of the performance I overheard the Concertmaster tell the first cellist: 'That boy did well. Tell him good job!' "

Bob adds: "I am managing to keep busy with my practice, Harvard medical student chores, a bit of clinical research, my actionpacked family and some regional high school enrollment for the College."

Thanks much, Bob—good to hear about both you and Erich.
