A nice time was had by all prior to the Yale game at John and Jill Schifman's in Hanover. Bracing themselves against the early morning cold were Brock Saxe, John Walters, JohnClark, Al Cook, Gordon Williamson, Bob Katz and others whose names are unfortunately omitted, casualties of the cold and warming attempt.
In attendance in the stands this fall have been a number of the aging classmates, Gary Spiess was sighted at Harvard along with TomKomarick, John Wilkinson, and Dick Wright who were up for the Yale encounter.
According to John Walters, Dave Usher is up to something important in Connecticut. It appears Dave started a business peddling prints of various artists' works. As I get the story, Dave contracts with a known artist for a print. He makes a mold of the print and manufactures a restricted number, thereby guaranteeing the limited quantity of the work. Then he destroys the mold and sells the print. All reports are that it is going well.
Glen Falls, N.Y., sends along word of two illustrious alumni. Bill Warrick is now the assistant vice president for business development at the First National Bank of Glens Falls. Bill has an active avocation also as he owns and operates "Wicksden" a cattle farm in Putnam, N.Y. Putnam is also the home for Bill and Elizabeth and their two children. The second '62 flash from Glen Falls is Steve Serlin who is now a fellow in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the International College of Surgeons. Steve and Ronnie and their three children Beth, Todd, and Jordan enjoy country living and Steve especially enjoys his practice in Glen Falls.
From Fiberglass country in Toledo, Ohio, comes word that Dick Couturier has been made manager of training and development at Owens-Corning. He had been in the Barrington (N.J.) plant as personnel director. Active in State, county, and city organizations in New Jersey, Dick will no doubt continue to be so in his new home of Sylvania, Ohio, where he and Sharon and their five are living at the new address of 5912 Wakefield Drive.
The mail from California brought along a great letter from Steve Wiener, all neatly transcribed on a legal pad, which, no doubt, Steve uses as he winds up his law school studies.
Steve has had a varied and interesting career since leaving Hanover. Initially, he spent two years at U.C.L.A. pulling down an MA in English. From there to Hong Kong where he taught English for three years. (While there Susan started and ran a very successful pre- school).
In 1967 Steve and the family returned to the States where he started law school at U.C.L.A. A "tardy adolescent rebellion" sent him to Oregon where he lived in a commune and wrote poetry. Following this experience he returned to the academic world at UCLA where he now toils. Just to keep occupied, he also teaches English at Los Angeles City College.
Susan stays active as a practicing surgical nurse. Son David is an avid camper and hiker and Alison is a talented gymnist with a tour at Kath Rigby's Camp to prove it. All join with Steve who asks that I announce they "are living on the beach in decadent Venice and will always be happy to see anyone who drops in at 38 Clubhouse Avenue." Thanks for catching us up, Steve.
Sad news is the untimely death of PhilHarver. More information will appear in next month's Magazine.
