Autumn has arrived with its usual splendor announcing the arrival of another tailgate season. Unfortunately it also announces the pending arrival of winter.
Hoping to take in the Columbia game is Bill Klein. Bill is winding up his training in internal medicine and pulmonary disease at Bronx Municipal Hospital. Bill reports his sons Russell (4) and Ryan (2) keep him pretty busy at home.
Just around the corner is the N. H. Presidential Primary (our every four year nonsense). Jumping into national politics already is Doug Walgren who ran for Congress last year (Penna. 27th District) as a "super dove" against a 26-year incumbent. Doug says he scored a moral victory, and enjoyed the experience. Maybe next time Doug.
Bill Jones has found his European Army training helpful. After a brief tour with a Newark, N. J., law firm, Bill is now an attorney for the Agency for International Development in Washington.
Dennis and Bonnie Stewart can be found in Saginaw, Mich. Dennis is now Credit Manager and Commercial Loan Officer of the Second National Bank. He has also taken an active alumni role in Saginaw. (The fact that the Bank Board of Directors are heavily staffed with Dartmouth men had nothing to do with it.)
A close New England neighbor is JimYoung, who resides in Buxton Center, Me. Jim is interning at the Maine Medical Center. He seems to enjoy being a country doctor as he and the family (two daughters, one great Dane, and a cat) are busy restoring (with help from the Mrs.) an old farm in the country.
First time this winter your snow tires don't do the job, give Kent Slaby a call (probably better to write). Kent and Alice, along with daughter Cynthia, are now located at the Firestone Plantations in Liberia. Kent' is Manager of Engineering for the Firestone National Rubber and Latex Company.
Another big business executive is John Shaw who has spent the past five yearS with IBM in Arlington, Va., as Data Processing Marketing Representative. John is also active in the family parade with son John and daughters Louise and Elizabeth.
Just about to celebrate his second anniversary is Bill Stern who married Debby Wolfe last November. Bill is now financial administrator with Centra! Telephone's cable television subsidiary in N.Y.C. Going to make the reunion Bill?
On occasion something crosses the desk that makes me feel extra good. This particular something is a picture of a canoe and Pete Knight. Maybe we really don't get any older after all. Pete is working in the program of Joint Studies on Latin American Economic Integration at the Brookings Institution in Washington He and Zaida were joined by son Charles Buarquee de Busmão Knight a year ago. Pete says that Charles learned to paddle
If you're in Portland, Ore., one of your friendly D.A's is Dave Shannon. Dave is director of the Metropolitan Consumer Protection Agency. He finds himself domiciled in ported with his wife and four children.
Steve Serlin is happy to leave the City. Steve is now an M.D. with a private practice in Glens Falls, N. Y. Steve and Ronnie are delighted with the position and The countryside, and report that children Beth and Todd like the clean air. Another classmate pleased with his life is Jonathan Gershovitz. Jon is now teaching social work at Bar Ilan University in Ramat Gan, Israel and finds the experience tremendously rewarding. Jon, wife Sandy and daughter Dean welcome all visitors to 51 Ben Zacai, Bnei Brak, near Tel Aviv.
Happy to report that Bill Pierce has been made a vice president of Chemical Bank of New York. He went on from the College to get his M.B.A. from the New York University School of Business Administration, joining Chemical in 1962, becoming an assistant manager in 1966, assistant secretary two years later, and assistant vice president two years ago. In the National Division he is assigned to the district made up of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, New Mexico, Oregon and Washington. He and Liz live at 179 E. 79th St., NYC.
Last word on Tom Moorman was that he is now an Air Force Captain and stationed at Westover AFB in Mass. Tom and Barbara (and the two boys) returned to the States following some time in Germany. Another military captain is DanHadlock who doctors for the Army. Dan entered the Army a year ago and is now stationed at Madigan General Hospital in Tacoma, Wash, near Fort Lewis. Dan and his wife Lynn met in Baltimore and moved to Washington shortly before the birth of son Timothy last December.
As Jim Godsman said, "I'm looking forward to the 10th reunion. It's hard to believe." The Reunion Committee is hard at work hoping to make our gathering next June something special. Judging from the releases and notices received from Don Samuelson, the plans call for a meaningful visit, and the reunion will be much more than booze and B.S. Start making plans.
Jerome Olin has been elected to commercial officer of the First Pennsylvania Banking and Trust Company in the National Department. He joined the Bank in 1965, after receiving his M.B.A. in marketing from Northwestern Graduate School of Business, as an analyst in the commercial credit division. After a stint as a lieutenant in the Coast Guard, he was assigned to the corporate cash management division and promoted to officer's assistant in 1969. He, wife Kathleen, and daughter Michelle Ruth, age three, live in West Chester, Pa.
Charles Goldthwaithe has joined the health and beauty products division of Chese-brough-Pond's Inc. as product manager for Groom & Clean products. Charles T'67 had been with Benton & Bowles for the past four years, most recently as vice president and account supervisor for a portion of the Proctor & Gamble account. He lives in Bronxville, N. Y. and last year was heard of as soliciting for the Tuckahoe (N.Y.) United Fund and as director of Tuck alumni for New York.
